The UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) for Visual Art is a crucial examination for candidates aspiring to become lecturers or secure research positions in Indian universities and colleges. Here are the eligibility criteria for the UGC NET Visual Art Exam 2024:

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in Visual Art or related disciplines such as Fine Arts, Painting, Sculpture, Applied Art, Graphic Art, or History of Art.
  • The degree should be recognized by UGC.
  • Candidates who have appeared for their final year Master’s degree examination and are awaiting results are eligible to apply. Such candidates will be admitted provisionally and must pass their Master’s degree.
  • Candidates holding a PhD degree whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks, i.e., from 55% to 50%, for appearing in NET.

  • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must secure at least 55% aggregate marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender categories must secure at least 50% aggregate marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.

Age Limit

  • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must secure at least 55% aggregate marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender categories must secure at least 50% aggregate marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
