The Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, is a central-level body in India that is in charge of conducting various recruitment exams for civil servants. UPSC's major exams include Civil Services, Engineering Services, CDS, and NDA.

A Bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for appearing in any of the exams. There may be some additional eligibility criteria depending upon the post or recruitment exam, a candidate wishes to apply for. The UPSC recruitment process is divided into three stages: preliminary examination, main examination, and interview.

UPSC Exam Date 2023

All candidates must complete the application form in accordance with the rules and regulations. Vacancy for UPSC CSE - An Overview

UPSC CSE Examination Pattern

UPSC CSE examination pattern is conducted in three stages:

• Prelims
• Mains
• Interview

1. UPSC CSE Prelims

The examination will consist of two compulsory papers worth 200 points each. Candidates who qualify in the Prelims round will only be invited to the Mains round.

2. UPSC CSE Mains

The mains round will include a written exam as well as an interview/personality test. The Written Exam will consist of nine traditional essay papers, two of which will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained for all compulsory papers (Paper-I to Paper-VII) as well as marks obtained in the Interview/Personality Test will be used to determine the ranking of the candidate.

3. Interv​iew

The candidate will be interviewed by a Board of Directors, who will have a record of the candidate's career in front of them. The candidate will be quizzed on topics of general interest.

The purpose of the Interview/Personality Test is for a Board of competent and unbiased observers to assess the candidate's personal suitability for a career in public service. The Interview/Personality Test is designed to assess a candidate's mental capacity. In general, this is an evaluation of not only intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current events.

UPSC CSE Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must have a Graduate degree from one of the Universities established by an Act of the Central or State Legislatures in India, or from another educational institution established by an Act of Parliament and declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification.

Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognised by the government as equivalent to a professional and technical degree may also be admitted to the Civil Services Examination.

How Many Attempts in UPSC CSE Examination?

Each candidate who appears for the test and meets all other requirements is given six (6) chances to take the CSE. However, candidates who fall under the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD categories and are otherwise qualified will be given relaxation on the number of attempts.
