Chief Minister salary is not fixed by the Indian Constitution itself. Instead, Article 164(5) states that the salaries and allowances of Ministers (including the Chief Minister) shall be determined by the legislature of the state from time to time by law. As of 2024–2025, the monthly Chief Minister salary in India ranges from approximately ₹1,25,000 to ₹4,10,000, depending on the state.
Chief Minister Salary is not set by the Central Governmnet of India. The Salary or wages are paid by the repect states of the CM. This means that the Salary can differ widely from one state to another. Salary of CM includes a basic salary, house rent allowance (HRA), and other perks.Some states like Telangana and Delhi pay high salaries, while states like Tripura and Manipur offer lower monthly payments. Chief Ministers also get free housing, travel allowances, security, and a salary. Some states also offer personal staff, phone bills, and medical expenses. The structure is similar to what MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) get, but usually a bit more for the CM. The Salary and allowances of a Chief Minister are determined by the State Legislature and drawn from the Consolidated Fund of the State.

Telangana currently offers the highest Chief Minister salary in India at ₹410,000 per month, which includes basic pay and allowances. Other states with comparatively high CM salaries are Delhi at ₹390,000 and Uttar Pradesh at ₹365,000 per month.
