Griha Lakshmi Scheme is a landmark state women welfare scheme launched by the Government of Karnataka. This scheme is also part of Karnataka’s popular “five guarantee schemes” and focuses on giving women direct assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The amount is transferred straight into the beneficiary’s bank account, making the benefit secure, transparent, and reliable.

What is Griha Lakshmi Scheme?

Griha Lakshmi Scheme, also known as Gruha Lakshmi Yojana, is an income support scheme implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development. Its purpose is to uplift and empower women by giving them financial support they can use for running their household, healthcare needs, children’s education, and emergencies.

Beyond financial assistance, the scheme also aims to recognize the unpaid domestic work done by women and ensure that they have a strong and independent role in household decision-making. By depositing the amount directly into the woman’s bank account, the government ensures transparency, security, and true economic independence. In rural and low-income areas especially, this assistance plays a crucial role in reducing financial burden, improving living conditions, and boosting the confidence and dignity of women in their families and communities.

Griha Lakshmi Eligibility Criteria

To ensure that only deserving families receive income support, the government has set certain rules:

Who Can Apply?

• Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka

• The woman must be listed as the head of the family on the ration card

• Families with BPL, APL, or Antyodaya (AAP) ration cards are eligible

Who Cannot Apply?

• Women who are government employees

• Women or husbands who pay income tax or file GST returns

• Only one woman per household can receive the benefit

Online Registration (Seva Sindhu Portal)

1. Visit the Seva Sindhu Guarantee Schemes Portal

2. Register using Aadhaar number and mobile number

3. Go to Gruha Lakshmi Yojana

4. Enter personal details, bank details, and family information

5. Complete Aadhaar-based OTP verification

6. Submit and download the acknowledgment receipt

Beneficiaries can verify whether their Direct Benefit Transfer women has been credited by:

• Logging in on the Seva Sindhu Portal → Enter application ID or ration card number

• Sending ration card number by SMS to 8277000555 or 8147500500

• Using the DBT Karnataka App → Download to view payment status
