As per the official notification released on February 4, 2026, candidates can apply for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) until February 24, 2026 (6:00 PM). The Union Public Service Commission has streamlined the process through the One-Time Registration (OTR) and Common Application Form (CAF) modules.

Before filling out the examination form, every candidate must create an OTR profile.
Visit the Portal: Go to upsconline.nic.in and click on "New Registration".
Enter Details: Provide your name, gender, date of birth, father's/mother's name, and Class X roll number.
Verification: Verify your mobile number and email ID using the OTPs sent to them.
Generate URN: Upon successful submission, a Universal Registration Number (URN) will be generated. This is a permanent ID for all future UPSC exams.
Once logged in using your URN/Email and password, you must complete the application modules:
Personal & Educational Profile: Enter your nationality, marital status, and graduation details.
Photo ID: Provide details of a valid Photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, etc.). You must carry this same ID to the exam hall.
Live Photo Capture: A new requirement for 2026 involves capturing a live photograph during the application process to ensure identity verification.
Upload Scanned Documents: * Photograph: Recent passport-size (JPG, 20 KB – 300 KB).
Signature: Scanned signature (JPG, 20 KB – 300 KB).
Photo ID: Scanned copy of the ID provided in Step 2 (PDF, 20 KB – 300 KB).
Select Exam Centre: Choose your preferred city for the Preliminary examination. Remember, centres are allotted on a "First-Apply-First-Allot" basis.
General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Must pay a fee of ₹100.
Exempted Categories: Female candidates, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
Modes: Payment can be made online via Net Banking/Cards or offline through SBI "Pay-by-Cash" mode.
