The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is conducted as General Studies Paper II of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. Introduced to assess a candidate’s aptitude, logical reasoning, analytical ability, and decision-making skills, CSAT plays a crucial qualifying role in the Prelims stage.
The CSAT paper consists of 80 objective-type questions carrying a total of 200 marks, with each question worth 2.5 marks. CSAT is qualifying in nature, and candidates must score at least 33% marks (66.67 marks) to clear the UPSC Prelims examination. There is also negative marking in the paper, with one-third marks deducted for every incorrect answer.
