Before filling the UPSC application form, you should carefully check whether you meet all eligibility conditions prescribed by the Union Public Service Commission. Every year, many aspirants face issues during verification because of incorrect age calculation, confusion regarding attempts, or incomplete educational qualifications.
The application window for UPSC CSE 2027 is expected to remain open till 2 February 2027, but eligibility verification continues throughout different stages of the examination process. Even after clearing Prelims, Mains, or Interview, the UPSC can reject candidature if any eligibility condition is not fulfilled. This is why checking nationality rules, graduation requirements, age relaxation, and attempt limits in advance becomes important before starting the application process.
UPSC prescribes separate conditions related to age, nationality, educational qualification, and number of attempts for the Civil Services Examination. You should understand these basic requirements clearly before applying.

Your attempt is counted even if you appear in only one paper of the UPSC Preliminary Examination.
Apart from basic eligibility conditions, UPSC also mentions service-related restrictions and physical fitness requirements, which become important during final selection and allocation.
Candidates already appointed to IAS or IFS through previous UPSC examinations are generally not eligible to appear again for the same services unless they resign according to applicable rules.
You must satisfy the physical and medical fitness standards prescribed by UPSC for service allocation. These standards become especially important for services like IPS and other field-based posts.
Even after clearing Prelims, Mains, or Interview stages, your candidature remains provisional until all documents and eligibility claims are verified successfully.
