Solutions: to worksheet-7 Topic- Reproduction in Animals

Zygote Foetus
(a) A zygote is formed of a fusion of egg cell & sperm cell (a) A foetus is formed of multiple divisions of cells present in embryo
(b) A zygote appears as a single dot and is diploid (b) A foetus appears as small developing baby and is multicelled
(c) A zygote is a first product of fertilization (c) A foetus is the last stage of reproduction.
(d) A zygote is formed inside the oviduct of female body (d) A foetus is formed inside the uterus of female body.
  1. Fertilisation
  2. Embryo
  3. Oviparous
  4. Fission
  5. (b) Oestrogen
  6. (b) Metamorphosis
  7. (a) False
    1. False
    2. True
    3. True
    4. False
  8. The type of reproduction in which only a single parent is involved is called asexual reproduction.
  9. Two methods of Asexual Reproduction are:
  10. (a) Binary fission: It takes place in simple unicellular organisms like Amoeba . In this type, the nucleus splits into two nuclei followed by the division of cytoplasm and thus forming two daughter Amoeba e.
  11. (b) Budding : It takes place in Hydra , is which cells divided rapidly at a specific site and develop as an outgrowth called ‘bud’. These buds, while still attached to the parent body develops into smaller individuals. When these individuals become mature enough they detach from the parent body & develop as an independent individual.
  12. In humans, the fertilistion is internal, i.e. inside the female body. The first step in the process of reproduction is the fusion of a sperm & an ovum. When sperms come in contact with an egg, one of the sperms may fuse with the egg. Such fusion of the egg & the sperm is called fertilization. During fertilistion, the nuclei of the sperm & the egg fuse to form a single nucleus. This results in the formation of fertilized egg or zygote.
