IBPS PO Educational Qualification

Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the IBPS CRP exam are as basic as a graduation degree (BA, BCom, BSc, B.Tech or as such) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India. Any such candidate who has received an equivalent qualification that is recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam.

The candidates must have a valid mark sheet / Degree Certificate that certifies that they are a graduate on the day they register for this exam, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

Computer Literacy: Working knowledge of computer systems is necessary for the job as well as to take the IBPS PO exam, which is conducted in online mode.

Language Proficiency: Verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT is desirable. The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak the language.

IBPS PO Age Limit

Every candidate applying for the IBPS PO exam must be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years old as of 1st July 2026. In addition, an age relaxation application is available for class-specific candidates as per board rules:

IBPS PO Nationality

A candidate must be one of the following to apply for the IBPS CRP/Bank PO Examination:
  1. Citizens of India
  2. The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Exiles from Tibet who entered India before January 1, 1962, were to stay there permanently.
  4. PIOs are people of Indian origin who have moved to India permanently from countries like Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, or East African ones like Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Malawi.
Candidates in categories 2, 3, and 4 must have a certificate of eligibility granted in their favor by the Government of India.

IBPS PO 2026 Selection Process

Candidates interested in the IBPS PO position should familiarize themselves with the notification details and understand the complete selection process to secure their final selection as an IBPS PO. IBPS PO selection process for IBPS PO comprises three phases:
  1. Prelims Examination: In the online preliminary examination, the IBPS authority selects candidates for the Mains examination.
  2. Main Examination: Candidates qualified in this examination will be called for an interview. They must qualify for this stage to go to the next stage.
  3. Interview: The Nodal Bank of the respective State/ UT screens the candidates in the interview round.

The IBPS PO Prelims Exam 2026 consists of 100 questions with a maximum score of 100 marks. The questions will be distributed among three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Candidates will have 1 hour to complete the paper.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The IBPS PO Mains exam is conducted online and comprises 5 sections (4 objective + 1 descriptive), carrying a total of 200 + 25 marks with a duration of 160 + 30 minutes. The descriptive paper is included to assess candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. Sections must be attempted in the order and within the time allotted during the exam. IBPS PO Syllabus 2026

To crack the IBPS PO 2026 exam, it is necessary to know the detailed IBPS PO Syllabus. The IBPS PO Prelims Syllabus and IBPS PO Mains Syllabus are slightly different. Prelims is an objective-type exam conducted within 1 hour for a total of 100 marks and consists of three subjects English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.
Candidates who qualify for the preliminary exams will be called for the main exam, which will be conducted with 225 marks in 3 hours and 30 minutes. The main exam has questions on Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economics/Banking, English, Data Analysis and Interpretation, and English (Letter Writing and Essay). After clearing both the exams, the candidate will be called for an interview, which will be conducted out of 100 marks.

IBPS PO Salary 2026

The basic salary of IBPS PO is INR 36,000. The pay scale is INR 23,700-(980 / 7)-30,560-(1145 / 2)-32,850-(1310 /7)-42,020. Apart from the IBPS PO salary, candidates are also entitled to various allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and Special Allowances. IBPS PO Exam Centre

The IBPS PO exam is conducted online at various centers across India, and the candidate can mention their preference while filling out the online application form. However, if the desired seats are not available, IBPS may allot an exam center different from the candidate's choice. IBPS has the sole right to add or remove examination centers, and candidates cannot submit any request for a change of examination center. Any inappropriate behavior at the examination center may result in the cancellation of the application.
