NICL Assistant 2026 Selection Process

As per the NICL Assistant 2026 Selection Process, all candidates will have to appear for the online Preliminary & Main examination; candidates qualifying the Main examination will be further shortlisted for the Regional Language Test.

SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy)/PwBD candidates who wish to avail the benefit of NICL Assistant pre-examination training may indicate the same while applying online. The candidates are required to refer to Recruitment Section of the website https://nationalinsurance.nic.co.in/ regularly for details. Candidates who have opted for the online training will also be informed about the date and schedule through the registered Email ID / Mobile. Please note that by merely attending the Pre-Examination Training, no candidate acquires any right to be offered employment in the Company.

NICL Assistant Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

  • NICL Assistant Prelims Exam consists of Objective Tests (Multiple Choice type Questions)
  • There are 3 sections in the online examination, namely English Language, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude
  • Duration of the exam allotted is 60 minutes (1 Hour)
  • There is a sectional timing of 20 Minutes for each section
  • There are a total of 100 questions, and each carries 1 mark
  • For each incorrect responses there is a negative marking of 1/4 mark

Note : Candidates will have to qualify in each test/section by securing passing marks to be decided by the authority. An adequate number of candidates, state-wise and category-wise as decided by the Company (approximately 15 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability), will be shortlisted for the NICL Assistant Mains Examination.

Note: The Final Merit List state-wise and category-wise shall be prepared in descending order of the marks secured by the candidates in the NICL Main Examination, subject to qualifying the Regional Language Test. Candidates who fall within the number of vacancies in the Merit List shall be considered for appointment, subject to Medical Fitness.

NICL Assistant Regional Language Test 2026

Candidates shortlisted in the online Main Examination will subsequently be called for the Regional Language Test to be conducted by the Company, at select centres. The name and address of the Centre, time & date of this test will be informed to the shortlisted candidates on our website. Candidates applying for a vacancy under a State / UT other than their domiciled State / UT have to appear and qualify for the Regional Language Test in the language of the State / UT for which they have applied. The NICL Assistant Regional Language Test will be qualifying in nature. No Scores will be allotted for the same. The scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination will be considered while arriving at the Final Ranking, subject to their qualifying for the Regional Language Test. The candidate should be sufficiently high in the Merit List to be shortlisted for the subsequent Recruitment process.
