  • Candidates applying for Maharashtra (Maharashtra Circle/Mumbai Metro Circle) or Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow Circle) should verify the operational area/circle via SBI's branch locator before applying.

  • Vacancies are provisional and may vary depending on the Bank's actual requirement.

  • There is no provision for Inter-Circle or Inter-State Transfer, except intra-state transfer between Delhi Circle & Lucknow Circle (Uttar Pradesh) and between Mumbai Metro Circle & Maharashtra Circle (Maharashtra).

  • Final-year/final-semester students may apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of passing graduation on or before 31.12.2026.

  • Matriculate Ex-servicemen holding the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education (or equivalent from Navy/Air Force) after 15+ years of service are also eligible, provided the certificate is dated on or before 31.12.2026.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Candidates currently working in SBI's Clerical cadre.

  • Candidates who previously resigned from SBI while in the Clerical cadre.

  • Candidates with adverse reports regarding character, antecedents, or moral turpitude.

  • OBC candidates falling under the "creamy layer."

  • Candidates need to score minimum qualifying aggregate marks as decided by the Bank; there are no separate individual-subject cut-offs.

  • Only Main Exam marks are used for the final merit list — Prelim marks are not added.

  • Trained SBI Apprentices get a bonus of 2.5% of maximum marks (5 out of 200) added to their Main Exam aggregate, subject to eligibility conditions (engagement start date on/after 01.01.2022, one year of branch experience completed by 27.08.2026, satisfactory conduct).

Candidates who have not studied the specified local language of the applied state at the 10th or 12th standard level must appear for the LLPT, conducted after the Main Exam but before joining. Candidates who fail this test will not be offered appointment.

Medium of Examination by State

The Main and Preliminary exams (for Numerical/Reasoning/GA/Quant/Reasoning-Computer sections) can be attempted in English, Hindi, and the relevant regional language depending on the state applied for — e.g., Gujarati for Gujarat, Marathi for Maharashtra, Tamil for Tamil Nadu, Kannada for Karnataka, Bengali for West Bengal/Tripura, and so on (English is compulsory for the English Language/General English papers).

  • Final merit list is prepared state-wise and category-wise, based solely on Main Exam aggregate marks (plus apprentice bonus marks, where applicable).

  • Provisional selection is subject to qualifying the specified local language test (where applicable) and verification of eligibility/documents.

  • A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies (state-category-wise) will be maintained and released every quarter against non-joining/resignation from the current batch, valid for one year from the date of the final result declaration.

  • Starting Basic Pay: Rs. 26,730/- (Rs. 24,050 basic + two advance increments admissible to graduates)

Total Emoluments

Total starting emoluments for a Clerical Cadre employee posted at a metro like Mumbai work out to around Rs. 46,000/- per month, inclusive of DA and other allowances at current rates (with two additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates). Allowances vary by place of posting.

Additional Benefits

Selected candidates are eligible for reimbursement of various perquisites, Provident Fund, Pension under the New Pension Scheme (Defined Contribution), medical benefits, Leave Fare Concession, and other facilities as per Bank rules.

Job Profile

New recruits must have a flair for marketing, as the role requires customer calls, banking and advisory services, and cross-selling of products both inside and outside Bank premises. Duties may involve extensive outdoor travel, and flexible/shift working hours depending on requirements.

Probation

Newly appointed Junior Associates are on probation for a minimum of 6 months and must complete prescribed e-lessons during this period to be confirmed; failure extends the probation.

Important Documents to Carry for the Exam

Candidates must bring one original photo ID (Passport/Aadhaar/PAN/Driving License/Voter ID/Bank Passbook with photo/School-College ID/Gazetted Officer letter) along with a self-attested photocopy, the authenticated call letter, and two additional photographs matching the one uploaded during application. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and other communication devices are strictly not allowed inside the exam venue.
