The CA Final 2027 journey involves multiple requirements that need to be completed in a particular sequence. From ITSS and registration to SPOM, articleship and the final examination, understanding each stage, its duration and applicable fees can help you plan your CA journey more effectively.
The CA Final 2027 roadmap is especially important when you are planning your studies alongside articleship and other mandatory requirements. Completing ITSS, registration, SPOM, practical training, and the required post-training stages within the applicable timelines can help you stay on track for the Final examination. PW CA Final preparation can support your studies as you progress through the different stages of your CA journey.
Clearing both groups of CA Intermediate is an important milestone, but it is not the final step before becoming a Chartered Accountant. Under the current CA course structure, you need to complete registration, practical training, Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM) and Advanced ICITSS requirements before appearing for the CA Final examination.
The overall progression can be understood as:
CA Intermediate → CA Final registration → SPOM → Practical Training → Advanced ICITSS → CA Final Examination → Membership
Understanding this sequence can help you plan your studies, training and examination preparation without missing an important requirement.
You become eligible to move towards the CA Final level after qualifying both groups of the CA Intermediate examination.
CA Final registration is a separate step from Intermediate qualification. Once you are registered for the Final Course, you can undertake the prescribed Final-level learning requirements, including the Self-Paced Online Modules.
The registration fee and other applicable charges should be checked on the latest ICAI portal before registration, as fees and administrative requirements can change.
Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM) form an important part of the CA Final process. ICAI currently requires students registered for the Final Course to complete the prescribed learning requirements for the applicable modules.
The modules are divided into:
Set A – Corporate and Economic Laws
Set B – Strategic Cost & Performance Management
Set C
Set D
For students appearing under the current scheme, the applicable SPOM requirements should be completed within the prescribed timeline before the Final examination. The exact subjects and requirements for Sets C and D should be checked against the latest ICAI provisions applicable to your attempt.
SPOM should therefore be treated as a parallel requirement rather than something to leave until the end of your CA journey.
After clearing both groups of CA Intermediate and completing the applicable requirements for practical training, you enter the practical-training phase of the course.
Under the New Scheme, the practical training period is two years. ICAI's 2026 announcement also refers to the two-year practical-training structure under the New Scheme.
This stage gives you practical exposure alongside your Final-level studies. Your eligibility for a particular Final attempt depends on completing the prescribed training and other applicable conditions within the timelines notified by ICAI.
Advanced ICITSS combines:
Advanced Information Technology (Advanced IT)
Management and Communication Skills (MCS)
Students registered under the New Scheme are required to complete Advanced ICITSS and pass the applicable Advanced IT test before appearing in the CA Final examination.
The Advanced IT test is conducted by ICAI after completion of the Advanced IT component. ICAI's October 2026 announcement confirms that students who have completed the prescribed Advanced IT training are required to take this test before appearing in the Final examination.
Therefore, do not treat Advanced IT and MCS as optional training that can be postponed indefinitely.
Once you have completed the applicable eligibility requirements, you can focus on the CA Final examination.
The current CA Final syllabus has six papers divided into two groups:
Group I
Financial Reporting
Advanced Financial Management
Advanced Auditing, Assurance and Professional Ethics
Group II
Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation
Indirect Tax Laws
Integrated Business Solutions
Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) is an open-book, case-based paper. Its integrated nature means that preparation should involve applying concepts across subjects rather than relying only on isolated chapter-wise revision.
Instead of treating every requirement as a separate task, plan your CA Final preparation around the sequence in which you need to complete them:
Qualify both CA Intermediate groups
Complete the entry requirement for the Final stage.
Register for CA Final
Complete Final Course registration and keep track of the applicable ICAI requirements.
Complete SPOM requirements
Finish the prescribed learning hours and qualify the applicable module tests.
Complete two years of practical training
Use the training period to gain practical exposure while maintaining a consistent Final-study schedule.
Complete Advanced ICITSS
Finish Advanced IT and MCS and clear the applicable Advanced IT test.
Check Final examination eligibility
Before applying for an attempt, verify the latest ICAI examination notification for training, SPOM, Advanced ICITSS and other eligibility conditions.
Prepare for both groups or your selected group
Build your preparation around the six Final papers and give additional attention to the case-based nature of IBS.
Your exact CA Final attempt cannot be determined only by adding fixed months to each stage. It depends on when you clear Intermediate, when practical training begins and ends, completion of SPOM and Advanced ICITSS, and the eligibility conditions applicable to your examination attempt.
Also, CA Final examinations are now conducted three times a year—in January, May and September.
Therefore, rather than following a fixed year such as November 2029 for every student, check the latest ICAI examination notification when planning your first eligible attempt.

This sequence gives you a practical view of what lies ahead after CA Intermediate. Since ICAI periodically updates examination and training requirements, always verify the conditions, fees and deadlines applicable to your specific attempt before making your final study plan.
The CA Final journey involves more than preparing for six papers. From Final registration and SPOM to practical training, Advanced ICITSS and the examination, each stage needs to be completed within the applicable ICAI requirements. Planning these steps early can help you manage your preparation and training more effectively.
