Chartered Accountancy (CA) is a prestigious and challenging profession that opens doors to a wide range of opportunities in the financial world. One of the crucial steps in the journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant is completing the CA Articleship period.
The Articleship is a practical training program designed to provide aspiring CAs with real-world experience and exposure to various aspects of accounting, auditing, and taxation. This article will delve into the intricacies of CA Articleship registration, exploring its significance, eligibility criteria, application process, and the benefits it offers to budding professionals.
CA Articleship Procedure Under CA New Course
To use the system, go to this web address: https://eservices.icai.org/ . Your User ID and password will be sent to you via email and SMS. Use these details to log in.
Type your User ID in the specified field.
Input your password in the Password field.
Click on the Login button. This will take you to the next screen.
Steps for CA Articleship Procedure Under CA New Course
If you’re ready to start your Articleship registration, here’s a clear, step-by-step process you can follow:
Step 1: Open the Articleship Menu
Begin by logging into your student portal. Once you're inside, locate the "Articleship Menu" button and click on it. From there, navigate to the "Articleship" tab. You’ll find icons for the Articleship Deed Form and the Auditship Deed Form.
Step 2: Complete the Articleship Deed Form
To start the registration process, click on the icon for the Articleship Deed Form. The system will prompt you to select the date when your Articleship will officially begin. Next, enter the Membership Number of the CA Member or Paid Assistant who will act as your Principal. After entering this, click the "Get Details" button to confirm their credentials.
Once verified, select the name of the firm where you will be conducting your Articleship. Enter the date on which the deed is being executed. After filling out these details, click on "Submit". Download the deed in PDF format, print it, and execute it on stamp paper as required. Keep a scanned copy of the signed deed ready for uploading later. If you realize you’ve made an error or need to update details, use the edit application link before moving forward.
Step 3: Review and Update Personal Information
The next step involves verifying your personal details displayed on the screen. Make sure all information is accurate. In case you spot an error, you can update it by using the Profile Change Form available in your portal. Enter all required details and click "Next" to proceed.
Step 4: Confirm Qualification and CA Course Details
Once your personal details are confirmed, you’ll be asked to check your academic qualification information. If everything is correct, you can continue by clicking "Next". If corrections are needed, the Profile Change Form can be used here too.
After this, the system will display your CA Course details. Go through them carefully. Should any changes be required, make sure to update them before clicking "Next" again.
Step 5: Review Previous Articleship Records
If you’ve previously registered for any Articleship or Auditship, those details will appear on the next screen. Confirm their accuracy and then click "Next" to continue with the process.
Step 6: Declare Other Academic or Professional Engagements
The system will now ask whether you are involved in any other business, job, or educational course during your Articleship period. Choose either Yes or No accordingly. If you select Yes, it’s mandatory to fill Form 112 through the Other Forms tab before finalizing your registration. Once done, click "Next".
Step 7: Final Review of Member Details
At this stage, you’ll be able to see the details of your Principal or CA Member who will supervise your Articleship. Confirm these details carefully. If everything looks correct, tick the "I Agree" option and click on "Submit".
Step 8: Member’s Approval of the Registration
Now, the ball is in your CA Member’s court. They need to log in through their portal, check the registration form under the "Forms for Approval" section, and approve it.
Step 9: Upload Signed Documents and Make Payment
After your Principal approves the form, download the PDF copies of the approved Deed (Form 102) and Registration Form (Form 103). Get these documents signed by the member. Then, log in to your student portal once more. Find your application in the "Submitted Applications" section, carefully go through each screen, and upload the signed, scanned PDFs in the final step.
CA Articleship Termination/Completion
Once the regional office gives the green light to your registration request, you're officially enrolled in articleship under a specific member. Now, you can access forms related to ending or completing your articleship. Moreover, you can check out other forms like those for pursuing additional courses or getting involved in other business activities. There are also forms for secondment requests, requisitions, and notifications about changes in the principal's status (this last one shows up only if you're registered under a paid assistant). Meanwhile, the member enjoys continuous access to various forms. These include Articleship Termination, Articleship Completion, Auditship Termination, Auditship Completion, and Industrial Training Completion/Termination for students under their supervision.
CA Articleship Registration Eligibility
To qualify for a CA articleship under the new CA scheme , students need to pass both groups of the CA Intermediate level and complete ICITSS training. The ICAI has proposed significant changes to CA Articleship training, benefiting students. This modification allows students to pursue CA articleships without diverting their attention from future attempts.
CA Articleship Duration:
The CA articleship now requires a mandatory 2-year duration working under a practicing Chartered Accountant. After completing the articleship, there's an optional 9 to 12-month Industrial Training period. In the new CA plan, the ICAI reduces the articleship duration from three to two years. This adjustment benefits students, enabling them to become chartered accountants sooner. Additionally, after 6 months of practical training, students can register for the CA final examination.
CA Articleship Stipend Criteria:
With the new course, ICAI increases the article stipend to 100%.
CA Articleship Regulations:
Under the new course, students are exempt from tests during their CA articleship. ICAI limits leaves to 12 per year and 24 in total for the entire training period.
