Referring to the previous year's question papers is essential for strengthening exam preparation and improving speed and accuracy. Here are the notable benefits of using previous years CA Foundation papers:
Practising with PYPs helps students become familiar with the structure of the exam, including the number of questions, type of questions (MCQs), section-wise weightage, and difficulty distribution. This way, the PYPs help candidates attempt the actual exam with confidence.
By going through past papers, students can spot frequently asked topics and question types that ICAI tends to focus on. This allows them to prioritise and allocate more time to high-weightage or high-frequency chapters during their preparation.
Practising with PYPs and analysing performance after completing them helps candidates understand the marking scheme of the exam. Additionally, candidates can gain clarity on the impact of negative marking on their final score.
Solving PYQs during the final phase of preparation serves as a self-assessment tool. It helps students evaluate how well they've retained concepts and where they still need improvement, facilitating last-minute revision.
Regular practice with actual exam-level questions enhances calculation speed and decision-making. It also trains students to avoid silly mistakes and strategically approach the paper by aiming to solve the questions where they can potentially score marks.
