The CA course revised process enables students to apply for the CA Foundation course, which was previously restricted to those who had completed their 12th class. Consequently, if a student is studying in the 10th class in 2023, candidates would need to commit to a period of 6.5 years to become a CA. Let us break it down into a step-by-step process to understand better why it would take 6.5 years to complete the CA course after the 10th standard.

Step 1: First, the student must clear the 10th and 12th standards, which typically takes two years.

Step 2: After completing the 12th standard, they can proceed to clear the Foundation level, which requires an additional four months.

Step 3: Once the CA Foundation is cleared, the student can move on to the Intermediate level, which usually takes around eight months to complete.

Step 4: Finally, upon clearing the Intermediate level, the student can embark on the Finals, the last stage of the CA course, which typically takes approximately 3.5 years to finish.

Combining the durations of each step, it becomes evident that the total time required to become a CA after the 10th standard is approximately 6.5 years.

CA Preparation After 10th Step-by-Step Process

To become a Chartered Accountant (CA) after completing 10th grade, you must follow a step-by-step process. First, you must complete your 10+2 or equivalent education from a recognized board. Once you have accomplished this, you can proceed with the following steps:
  • Register for the Common Proficiency Course: After completing the 10th class, you can register for the CPC. You can complete the registration online on the ICAI's official website or through the regional offices.
  • You must clear the 10+2 exam or its equivalent from a recognized board or institution to qualify for the next level.
  • Enrol in the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC): After clearing the 10+2 examination, you can enrol in the IPCC. The IPCC consists of two groups, and you have the option to appear for both groups simultaneously or individually. It is advisable to undergo coaching or join a study circle to prepare for the IPCC.
  • Secure a position as an article assistant: Along with the IPCC registration, you need to secure a position as an article assistant under a practicing chartered accountant. The articleship period typically lasts three years, during which you gain practical experience in the field.
  • Clear the IPCC examination: To proceed to the next level, you must clear both groups of the IPCC examination.
  • Enroll for the CA Final Course: Once you have cleared the IPCC examination, you can enroll for the CA Final Course.
  • Complete the CA Final Course and articleship: Undergo the CA Final Course and continue your articleship for the remaining period, if any, after passing the IPCC examination.

CA Syllabus for CA Preparation After 10th

The CA Foundation Course covers four papers. The first paper focuses on Principles and Practices of Accounting, followed by Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting in the second paper. The third paper combines CA subjects Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning & Statistics, while the fourth paper encompasses Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge. Moving on to the CA Intermediate Course consists of 8 papers divided into two groups. Group 1 covers Accounting, Corporate, Other Laws, Cost and Management Accounting, and Taxation. Group 2 includes Advanced Accounting, Auditing & Assurance, Enterprise Information Systems & Strategic Management, and Financial Management & Economics for Finance. Lastly, we have the CA Final Course, which comprises eight papers divided into two groups. Group 1 entails Financial Reporting, Strategic Financial Management, Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics, and Corporate and Economic Laws. Group 2 consists of Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation, an Elective Paper (with options like Risk Management and International Taxation), Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation, and Indirect Tax Laws. CA Exam Pattern CA Preparation After 10th

CA Foundation

The CA Foundation exam consists of four papers, each carrying 100 marks. The first two papers are subjective in nature, while the remaining two are objective. Negative marking is applicable to the objective papers, resulting in a deduction of 1/4 of a mark for every wrong answer. CA Intermediate Moving on to the CA Intermediate exam pattern for May 2023, we find 8 papers divided into two groups. Each paper has a combination of objective and subjective questions, and students are given 3 hours to complete each. With each paper 100 marks, the total marks for the CA Intermediate exams is 800.

CA Final

Now let's discuss the CA Final Exam , which consists of two groups and eight papers, each carrying 100 marks. To pass the exams, students must score at least 40 marks on each paper and a total of 400 marks. Notably, there is no negative marking for this examination. The question formats include both descriptive and objective questions. The subjects for the CA Final Exam 2023 are as follows:

Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation (for 100 Marks) To participate in the CA Final exam, candidates must register on or before July 1, 2023, for the November/December 2023 exams.
