ICAI Scholarship 2026: Eligibility, Amount & How to Apply

ICAI Scholarships for CA Aspirants

ICAI Institute offers scholarships to CA aspirants at every level of the CA journey, including CA Foundation, CA Inter, and during Article-ship.  Scholarships are not provided after passing CA Final. Applicants must understand the eligibility, scholarship amount, required documents, and application process.

Scholarship Amounts by CA Program Level

Scholarship amounts vary based on the program level and merit:

• ₹1500 per month

• ₹2500 per month

• ₹4000 per month

• ₹5000 per month

CA Foundation Scholarship

Students register for CA Foundation after Class 10 but qualify for this scholarship only when eligible for the exam, typically after Class 12.

• Amount: ₹1500 per month for 4 months, totaling ₹6000.

• Eligibility: This is a need-based scholarship. Parents' annual income must be less than ₹5 Lakhs.

• Application: Apply after Class 12 exams.

CA Inter Scholarship

Students who have passed CA Foundation and are pursuing CA Inter are eligible.

• Amount: ₹2500 per month for 8 months.

• Eligibility: This is a need-based scholarship, requiring parents' annual income to be less than ₹5 Lakhs.

• Note: The scholarship is granted once, irrespective of the number of attempts for CA Inter.

CA Inter to CA Final (during Article-ship) Scholarship

Two types of scholarships are available for students from CA Inter to CA Final during their article-ship:

Application for merit-based scholarships is via the SSP Portal immediately after passing CA Inter and applying for article-ship. The process is typically completed by ICAI within 7-10 days.

Required Documents for Scholarship Application

Before applying, prepare these essential documents:

1. Student's Bank Account Details: The scholarship amount is credited directly to the student's account.

2. Canceled Check: A check leaf with "CANCELED" written across it, and a cross drawn. A digital image is needed.

3. Parents' Income Proof: Required for need-based scholarships (parents' income less than ₹5 Lakhs). Not required for merit-based scholarships (Rank 1-10 in CA Inter).

4. CA Membership Number: For CA Foundation applicants, a practicing CA's membership number. For Article-ship students, their Principal's membership number.

5. Parents' PAN Number: Mandatory Permanent Account Number for parents or guardians.

Eligibility to Scholarship Scheme

• ICAI provides scholarships at every CA level.

• Amounts:

• CA Foundation: ₹1500 per month.

• After CA Foundation (CA Inter need-based): ₹2500 per month.

• CA Inter Rank 11-50 (merit-based): ₹4000 per month.

• CA Inter Rank 1-10 (merit-based): ₹5000 per month (no income proof required).

• Type:

• Merit-based: For top ranks (CA Inter Rank 1-10 and 11-50).

• Need-based: For all other scholarships, requiring parental income less than ₹5 Lakhs.

• Application: Via SSP Portal, with required documents.

Application Process & Income Verification

Follow these steps to apply for the scholarship:

1. Access SSP Portal: Log in to the SSP Portal.

2. Navigate: Go to the "Student Section", then the "Scholarship Section".

3. Fill Details: Complete the application form, providing personal details, address, and uploading required documents.

4. Verification: Documents, especially income proof, are sent for verification to the provided CA (practicing CA for Foundation, Principal for Article-ship). This CA verifies if parents' annual income is ₹5 Lakhs or less.

5. ICAI Review: After the CA's approval, documents are forwarded to the ICAI for further verification.

6. Scholarship Initiation: Upon successful verification, the scholarship is initiated, and notification is sent via email.
