Types of Immunity
Immunology Vaccines of Class 12
Types of Immunity
Active immunity (Adaptive Immunity)
Antibodies are formed by the body itself after receiving the antigen either as vaccine or as direct infection
Passive immunity
Antibodies are formed elsewhere (in other animals) and then introduced into patients’ body to cure the disease.
Humoral immunity
Antibodies released in plasma by effector (or plasma) cell as free molecules. (@ 2000 molecules/sec.)
This is a kind of day-to-day immunity, hence short-lived.
Cellular immunity
T-cells directly play the role in immunity having antibodies as its surface molecules.
Such transformed cells form their clones, hence, it is long lasting immunity, also even life long.
