Solution: Magnitude of Direction cosines=Direction cosines = 5

And magnitude of Direction cosines= 25

Now a unit vector parallel to Direction cosines= Direction cosines

∴ The vector having the same magnitude as Direction cosines and parallel to Direction cosines

= 25 Direction cosines

Illustration 11. What is the displacement of a point on a wheel initially in contact with the ground when the wheel rolls froward through half a revolution. Given radius of wheel is R.

Solution: Displacement = Direction cosines

= Direction cosines

tan θ = Direction cosines

∴ θ = tan−1Direction cosines
