CUET PG LLM Marking Scheme 2027

The CUET PG marking scheme plays an important role in determining a candidate's approach towards attempting questions. Based on the latest available CUET PG pattern, the marking scheme is as follows:

  • Correct Answer: +4 marks

  • Incorrect Answer: -1 mark

  • Unanswered Question: 0 marks

  • Question marked for review but not answered: 0 marks

This means candidates are rewarded with four marks for every correct response, while one mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. Therefore, random guessing can negatively affect the final score.

The latest CUET PG Information Bulletin clearly states that each question carries four marks, four marks are awarded for every correct answer, and one mark is deducted for every incorrect response. No marks are awarded for unanswered or unattempted questions.

CUET PG LLM 2027 Score Calculation

Candidates can calculate their approximate raw score using the following formula:

CUET PG LLM Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)

For example, if a candidate answers 60 questions correctly and 10 questions incorrectly:

Score = (60 × 4) – (10 × 1)
Score = 240 – 10 = 230 marks

The remaining five unanswered questions will not carry any marks or negative marks.

Is There Negative Marking in CUET PG LLM 2027?

Yes, based on the latest CUET PG examination scheme, negative marking applies to incorrect answers. For every incorrect response, one mark is deducted from the candidate's total score.

Because of this negative marking system, candidates should focus on accuracy rather than attempting every question blindly. If a candidate can eliminate some incorrect options and make an informed choice, attempting the question may be beneficial. However, completely random answers may reduce the overall score.

A strong preparation strategy should therefore focus on improving both legal conceptual clarity and question-solving accuracy.

Important Rules for CUET PG Question Evaluation

NTA also provides specific provisions for situations where a question has multiple correct answers, no correct answer, or is found to be incorrect.

If more than one option is found to be correct, candidates who have selected any of the correct options may receive full marks. If a question is found to be incorrect or dropped, marks may be awarded according to the examination rules applicable to that question.

These provisions ensure that candidates are not unfairly disadvantaged because of an error in the question paper.

CUET PG LLM 2027 Preparation Tips Based on the Exam Pattern

Understanding the paper pattern can help candidates develop a focused preparation plan. Since the examination is expected to contain 75 MCQs in 90 minutes, aspirants should regularly practise timed mock tests.

Candidates should focus on the following:

  • Develop strong conceptual understanding of important legal subjects.

  • Practise objective-type legal questions regularly.

  • Improve speed without compromising accuracy.

  • Analyse mistakes after every mock test.

  • Avoid excessive guessing because of negative marking.

  • Develop a strategy for attempting easy, moderate, and difficult questions.

  • Revise important legal concepts, principles, and provisions regularly.

  • Practise completing 75 questions within the 90-minute time limit.

Candidates should also remember that merely appearing in CUET PG does not guarantee admission. Participating universities determine their own admission criteria, eligibility requirements, counselling process, and merit lists based on the applicable rules.
