General Requirements:

1. Degree : M.Sc. / M.A. or equivalent degree in relevant subject areas.
2. Minimum Marks : General/EWS candidates: 55% marks and SC/ST/OBC and PwBD candidates: 50% marks.

Final Year Students:

• Eligibility : Candidates who are appearing/appeared in the final year (IV/VI Semester whichever is applicable, and final year where Semester system is not there) of M.Sc./M.A. or equivalent examination during the session (2021-22) can apply for the exam as Result Awaited (RA).
• Attestation Requirement : These candidates must submit the attestation format (given in Annexure-I), duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute with their signature and rubber stamp (including address and name).
• Provisional Admission : Such candidates will be provisionally admitted to the exam.
• Proof of Qualification : Eligibility for JRF will be confirmed only after submitting proof of having passed the Master's Degree examination with the requisite percentage.
• Deadline for Submission : The M.Sc./M.A. or equivalent degree mark sheet must be submitted to ICMR by 31st December, 2022. Failure to do so will result in the automatic forfeiture of the candidature selection.

ICMR JRF Age Relaxation 2024

• SC/ST Candidates: Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5 years in the upper age limit.
• OBC Candidates: Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 3 years in the upper age limit.
• Female Candidates: Women candidates also receive an age relaxation of up to 5 years.
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): PwBD candidates are also eligible for an age relaxation of up to 5 years.

ICMR JRF Reservation Policy 2024

• ICMR provides reservations for SC, ST, and OBC - NCL categories as per the Government of India's instructions.
• All candidates, regardless of category, can apply against General category vacancies if they meet the general criteria.
• Specific category vacancies (SC/ST/OBC) are reserved exclusively for candidates belonging to those communities.
• SC/ST, OBC - NCL candidates must provide a Caste Certificate as per the format given in Annexure.
• The OBC certificate should not be older than one year from the date of document verification.
• Additionally, OBC candidates must submit a declaration in the prescribed format confirming non-belonging to the creamy layer.
• Candidates must ensure that their certificates are up-to-date and meet the specified formats at the time of document submission and verification.

ICMR JRF Eligibility 2024 PwBD

• As per Chapter VI Clause 32 of the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, 5% of seats shall be reserved for PwBD who are Indian Nationals.
• Reservation is on a horizontal basis, according to the rank in the order of merit in the Entrance Exam.
• PwBD candidates must have a benchmark disability as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
• 5% of the sanctioned intake capacity will be filled by candidates with benchmark disabilities based on the merit list of the ICMR-JRF Entrance Exam.
• A valid disability certificate, certified by a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board of the State or Central Govt. Hospitals/Institutions are required.
• Only persons with at least 40% of the relevant benchmark disability are eligible for relaxation/reservation.
• One-eyed candidates and those with less than 40% visual disability will not be considered as Visually Impaired persons and thus not eligible for engaging a scribe.
• Candidates who are Visually Impaired (VI), or whose writing speed is affected by Cerebral Palsy, muscular dystrophy, Locomotor disability (one arm), or Intellectual disability (Autism, specific learning disability, and mental illness), can avail the assistance of a scribe.

ICMR JRF Eligibility 2024 EWS

• In reference to the Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT), Government of India, order no. 36039/1/2019-Estt (Res) dated 31.01.19, a 10% reservation for the EWS category will be provided exclusively to General Category candidates.
• General category candidates who wish to avail of the EWS quota of 10% reservation will be required to attach the Income and Assets certificate.
