Lucknow University PG Admission 2026 for the academic session 2026–27 has officially started. The University of Lucknow, established in 1920 and located at Acharya Narendra Dev Marg, Lucknow, is inviting applications for more than 86 postgraduate programmes offered across various faculties. 

The university has received NAAC A++ accreditation and secured the 98th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among universities. It is also recognized as the first university in Uttar Pradesh to receive UGC Category-1 status.

Lucknow University PG Admission Form 2026

LU PG Admission Registration (LURN) is done through the Samarth Portal and requires a one-time payment of Rs. 100/-. Once registered, the same LURN can be used to apply for multiple courses. Candidates should keep a printout of the LURN form for future reference.

Note: LURN registration was opened on 17 April 2026 and is open till 31st May 2026. No admission application form can be submitted without a valid LURN.

Lucknow University PG Admission 2026 Eligibility

The Lucknow University PG Admission 2026 eligibility criteria vary by faculty and programme. However, the general eligibility rule is as follows:

General Eligibility: A candidate must have completed a Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc/BCom) under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 (NEP) pattern from any university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Additional Eligibility Rules:

  • If a subject was studied during graduation, minimum marks required: 45% for General/OBC; 40% for SC/ST/PwBD

  • If a subject was NOT studied during graduation, minimum marks required: 50%

  • SC/ST/PwBD candidates get a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks across all programmes

  • A candidate cannot pursue two regular PG degree programmes simultaneously

  • A candidate who has already completed a PG course in one subject cannot apply for another PG course in a different subject (except for professional/self-financed courses)

  • Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation in the admission year are eligible to apply but must fulfil eligibility criteria on the day of counselling

LU PG Admission Process 2026

Follow the steps below to complete your LURN registration for session 2026–27:

  1. Go to the official website: lkouniv.ac.in

  2. Click on the LURNS link from the Admission page or via the Samarth Portal at https://lkounivadm.samarth.edu.in

  3. Click on 'New Registration' on the right side of the registration page to create your Login ID

  4. Keep a valid email ID ready; an OTP will be sent to this email for verification

  5. After creating the Login ID, log in and fill in your complete profile details (name, father's name, mother's name, etc.)

  6. After completing the profile, pay the registration fee of Rs. 100/- through the payment gateway

  7. Important: If payment is deducted but not confirmed as Successful, do not attempt payment again for 48 hours

  8. After successful payment, your LURN will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number and email

  9. Take a printout of the generated LURN and keep it safe

The following documents and details are needed to complete the Lucknow University PG Admission 2026 application:

  • LURN (generated through the Samarth Portal)

  • Valid Email ID

  • Aadhaar Number (for identity verification)

  • Active Mobile Number (login credentials will be sent to this number)

  • Alternate Mobile Number (preferably of a parent)

  • Scanned Photograph in JPEG format (maximum 50 KB)

  • Scanned Signature in JPEG format (maximum 50 KB)

  • Photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or Passport)

  • EWS Certificate (if claiming EWS reservation) – issued by appropriate authority

How to Fill the Online Admission Application Form (After LURN)?

LU PG admission portal Samarth is the platform where all admission-related activities take place after LURN registration. Follow these steps to complete your application:

  • Click on 'Apply Now' for the Online Admission Application (UG/PG) on the admission page

  • Select the Programme Level – choose 'Masters of (Post-Graduation Programmes)' for PG

  • Select the specific programme you want to apply for

  • Select 'Lucknow University' and click on 'Proceed.'

  • Fill in your Academic Details and verify your eligibility for the selected programme

  • Upload the required documents

  • Preview your complete application form; if any error is found, correct it before submission

  • Proceed to the payment section and pay the applicable application fee using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking

  • After successful payment, the Online Admission Application Form will be generated — take a printout

Note: Once the application fee is submitted, the data entered in the registration page cannot be edited under any circumstances.

Lucknow University PG Admission 2026 Application Fee

The application fee includes the LURNS registration fee. Additionally, all admitted candidates must deposit Rs. 5,000/- as refundable caution money at the time of admission. Candidates from outside  

Lucknow University (including associated colleges) will pay a one-time non-refundable enrolment fee of Rs. 500/-. All fees paid at the time of registration will not be refunded under any circumstances.

The Lucknow University PG entrance exam 2026 is conducted for most faculties, including Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Fine Arts, Yoga, and Alternative Medicine. The entrance examination plays a key role in determining merit for admission.

Important Rule: If the number of applications for a programme is less than the number of available seats, no entrance examination will be held for that subject. In such cases, admission will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying (graduation) examination.

LU PG Merit List 2026

After the entrance examination, the university prepares a LU PG merit list 2026 which is made available on the university's official website and in the relevant departments. The merit list will NOT be published in newspapers.

Merit is determined based on marks obtained in the entrance examination. In case of a tie, the following order is used:

  • First preference: Higher percentage in graduation or equivalent examination
  • Second preference: Higher percentage in Class 12 or equivalent examination
  • Third preference: Higher percentage in Class 10 or equivalent examination
  • Fourth preference: Older candidate given priority if all above are equal

Weightage (Applicable on Merit Index):

  • Outstanding Sportsperson: 5% of marks in qualifying examination
