NIMCET 2027 is a national-level entrance exam for students who want to pursue the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme through participating NITs and IIITs. The official NIMCET 2027 notification has not been released yet. Therefore, the exact dates and rules for 2027 are still awaited.

NIMCET 2027 Important Dates

NIMCET 2027 Exam Date

The NIMCET 2027 exam date is expected to be in early June 2027. The exact date will be confirmed only after the release of the official notification.

Students preparing for NIMCET 2027 should not wait for the final exam date to begin preparation. Starting early gives enough time to complete Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and English.

NIMCET 2027 Eligibility

The official NIMCET 2027 eligibility rules are yet to be announced. Based on the NIMCET brochure of the previous year, Indian Nationals with the required marks in a qualifying degree were eligible to appear.

For NIMCET 2026, candidates needed:

• At least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree.

• For SC, ST and PwD candidates, the requirement was 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.

• A minimum three-year undergraduate programme with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects was accepted.

• B.E. or B.Tech. candidates were also eligible.

• Students appearing in their qualifying examination could also apply, subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions later.

NIMCET 2027 Application Form and Registration

The NIMCET 2027 application form is expected to be available online on the official NIMCET website after the notification is released.

The NIMCET 2027 registration process is expected to include creating an account, entering personal and academic details, uploading documents, selecting test centres, and paying the application fee.

In NIMCET 2026, candidates registered using their personal email ID and mobile number. They also had to upload a recent photograph, signature, academic documents, and valid identity proof. Candidates were asked to select three test centres in order of preference.

Students should keep the following ready before registration:

• Category certificate, if applicable

NIMCET 2027 Admission Process

NIMCET is used for admission to MCA programmes offered through participating NITs and IIITs. Admission is based on the NIMCET rank and the institute choices filled during counselling.

NIMCET 2027 Exam Pattern

The NIMCET 2027 exam pattern is yet to be announced officially. Until then, the 2026 pattern can be used as a reference, which included 120 MCQs across Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English. 

NIMCET exam pattern includes negative marking. A wrong answer leads to a deduction of 25% of the marks assigned to that question, while an unanswered question has no deduction.

NIMCET 2027 Syllabus

The NIMCET 2027 syllabus is expected to cover Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English, based on the 2026 syllabus.

Computer Awareness

The Computer Awareness section included computer basics, CPU, input and output devices, memory, data representation, binary and hexadecimal systems, Boolean algebra, hardware, software, operating systems, internet, email and basic online security.

General English

The English section focused on reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, meanings of words and phrases, sentence forms, technical writing and correct use of English.

NIMCET 2027 Preparation Strategy

Students preparing for NIMCET 2027 should build their preparation around concepts, practice and timed tests.

1. Start With Mathematics: Mathematics had the highest weight in the 2026 exam. Start with basic concepts and then move to questions of increasing difficulty. Give extra practice to Algebra, Calculus, Probability, Coordinate Geometry and Trigonometry.

2. Practise Reasoning Every Day: Solve a small set of reasoning questions daily. Focus on speed as well as accuracy because the reasoning section has a fixed time limit.

3. Build Basic Computer Knowledge: Revise computer fundamentals, memory, operating systems, hardware, software, number systems and internet basics. Make short notes for quick revision.

4. Improve English: Read short passages regularly and revise grammar and vocabulary. Practice questions similar to those included in the NIMCET syllabus.

5. Take Mock Tests: Once the basic syllabus is complete, start taking timed mock tests. Review every wrong answer and identify the topics where more practice is needed.
