Jamia Millia Islamia’s new academic brochure announced that the university would accept Common University Entrance Test (CUET) marks for only 15 UG and 5 PG courses from 2023.
The university will conduct entrance tests for most undergraduate and postgraduate programs. If required, candidates will also have to go through the interview round.
The higher authority of Jamia Millia Islamia has stated through a notification that due to administrative reasons, the university will not be able to implement CUET completely in the coming academic year.
Due to some academic limitations, Jamia Millia cannot conduct admissions based on CUET entirely. The university also stated that time limitations were another reason CUET could not be implemented.

Implementing CUET On UG Courses
The university plans on implementing CUET on all of its UG courses. But it still has no plans of making CUET the standard entrance exam for PG courses as it is not compulsory.
The university has ensured that from next year onwards, CUET will be fully implemented for UG courses. Jamia Millia Islamia will conduct its entrance examination from April to May.
The Undergraduate programs that will come under CUET are BA (H) Persian, BA (H) Urdu, BA (H) History, BA (H) French and Francophone Studies, BA (H) Spanish and Latin American Studies, BA (H) economics, BVoc (solar energy), BSc (H) physics and BSc (H) chemistry. Postgraduate programs under CUET include MA in Sanskrit, MSc in disaster management and climate sustainability studies, MA in educational planning and administration, and MA Persian.
For the rest of the courses, candidates will have to appear for the entrance exam of Jamia Millia Islamia. Students get admission on merit basis. If required, the university also conducts an interview round.
A merit list is out after the exam, based on marks and reservations of various categories. Students can apply for admission through CUET till April 3, 2023.

You can go on the official website of Jamia Millia islamia to fill out the application form. The editing window for the form will open on 4th April 2023 and close on 6th April 2023. The entrance exam will begin on 15th April 2023. The application form for Jamia Millia Islamia’s entrance test for the rest of the courses will also be out very soon.

The Department of Persian at Jamia Millia Islamia has been running on its own since 1988. Before that, it was part of a combined department with Arabic and Islamic Studies, established in 1968. The founder, Prof. Shoib Azmi, worked hard to make the Persian department stand out. After him, leaders like Prof. Qamar Ghaffar, Prof. Iraq Raza Zaidi, and now Prof. Mohammad Iqbal, who became the Head of Department in 2010, have continued to uplift the department. They've built a seminar library with over a thousand Persian books and have modern equipment like TVs, DVDs, and CDs.
But Jamia Millia Islamia's Persian department isn't just about teaching. They host seminars, lectures, and talks about Persian language and literature. They invite experts from India and other countries to share knowledge. In 2012, they're planning an international seminar on “Naziri Nishapuri”, a famous Persian poet from the Mughal era. The department also has a student association that organizes academic events and trips.
