CUET Eligibility Criteria 2026

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2026 specify the essential requirements that students must fulfill to appear for the Common University Entrance Test and apply for undergraduate courses in participating universities across India.  These criteria include completing or appearing for the 10+2 (class 12) examination from a recognized board, meeting any minimum qualifying marks set by individual universities, and adhering to age and category-specific guidelines where applicable. While there is no overall age limit for CUET, some universities may have their own rules. CUET Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses 2026

While each university may have its specific requirements, the following general criteria apply to most UG courses under CUET 2026:

1. Academic Qualifications

  • Candidates must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 from a recognized board in any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts).

  • General Category: Minimum 50% aggregate in Class 12.

  • SC/ST Category: Minimum 45% aggregate in Class 12.

  • B.Tech Programs: Minimum 45% aggregate for General candidates and 40% for reserved categories.

2. Age Limit

  • No fixed age limit prescribed by NTA for CUET.

  • Candidates must meet the age criteria (if any) set by the individual universities they apply to.

  • Admission policies regarding age, reservation, relaxation, cuet subject combinations, and preferences are determined by the respective universities.

3. Nationality

Candidates eligible for CUET must be one of the following:

  • Indian citizens.

  • Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.

  • Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, intending to permanently settle.

  • People of Pakistani, Burmese, Sri Lankan, Kenyan, Ugandan, Tanzanian, Zambian, Malawian, Zairean, Ethiopian, or Vietnamese origin who have permanently settled in India.

4. Subject Combination

  • Candidates must have studied the relevant subjects in Class 12 mapped to the chosen UG course.

  • The CUET subject combination requirement differs from course to course and university to university.
