According to an official, a 400 square metre stepwell that is between 125 and 150 years old was discovered during excavation in the Chandausi neighbourhood of Laxman Ganj.Key Points

According to Sambhal District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is considering conducting a survey at the location, and if required, a request may be made to ASI. According to the DM, the temple is said to be around 150 years old and contains two idols that are securely stored in other temples. He promised to remove any encroachments surrounding the temple and to take action to repair it. A resident of Chandausi told the District Office about the historic stepwell and the dilapidated state of the neighbouring Banke Bihari temple during a public meeting two days ago. The Sambhal administration will ask the ASI to conduct a stepwell survey, per the PTI report.
