Fish Production in Bihar

In the fiscal year 2023-24, Bihar has come close to achieving self-sufficiency in fish production, with a total output of 8.73 lakh tons, slightly below the target of 8.89 lakh tons.
  • Compared to the previous year (2022-23), there has been an increase of 27 thousand tons in fish production in 2023-24.
  • Madhubani recorded the highest fish production with 91.78 thousand tons in the past financial year. In contrast, Jehanabad reported the lowest production with 1.58 thousand tons.

Bihar Museum is set to release a book narrating life stories of Padma Shri awardees from Bihar.

Soil Sampling Targeted for 5 Lakh Samples in Bihar This Year

  • Increased Target: Bihar aims to analyse 5 lakh soil samples this year, marking a 60% increase compared to the previous year.
  • Achieved Targets: In the year 2023-24, the target of analyzing 2 lakh soil samples was met successfully.
  • Testing Facilities: There are soil testing laboratories in all 38 districts of the state, along with one mobile soil testing laboratory in each subdivision, totaling 9 per division.
  • Digital Soil Fertility Map: After collecting soil samples, a digital soil fertility map is being generated, which will facilitate identification of suitable crops and fertilizer recommendations.
