He was born in Jamnia, a small town near Itarsi in Hoshangabad district, Madhya Pradesh. He obtained his MA in Hindi from R.T.M. Nagpur University. He went to Jabalpur (M.P.) and founded Vasudha, a literary magazine. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1982 for his satire "Viklaang Shraddha Ka Daur". Makhanlal Chaturvedi Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi (4 April 1889 - 30 January 1968), also known as Pandit ji, was an Indian poet, writer, essayist, playwright, and journalist who is best known for his involvement in India's national struggle for independence and his contribution to Chhayavaad, Hindi literature's Neo-romantic movement. In 1955, he received the first Hindi Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Him Taringini. In 1963, he received the civilian honor of Padma Bhushan from the Indian government. Lata Mangeshkar Lata Mangeshkar (born September 28, 1929) was an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer. She is one of the most well-known and recognized playback singers in India. Mangeshkar's career began in 1942 and has continued for more than seven decades. She has recorded songs for more than a thousand Hindi films and sang in over 36 regional Indian languages and international languages, mostly Marathi and Hindi. She is the oldest of four siblings, the others being Asha Bhosle, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, and Meena Mangeshkar. Ambedkar Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Baba Saheb, was an Indian jurist, politician, economist, and social reformer who founded the Dalit Buddhist Movement and advocated for women's and labor rights in addition to fighting against social discrimination against Untouchables (Dalits). He was born on April 14, 1891, and passed away on December 6, 1956. He was Independent India's first law minister, the chief author of the Indian Constitution, and a founding father of the Republic of India. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi A former captain of the Indian cricket team, Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan was also known as Mansur Ali Khan, M. A. K. Pataudi, or Tiger Pataudi. He was the nominal Nawab of Pataudi from 1952 until 1971, when the 26th Amendment to the Indian Constitution abolished the prince's privy purses and ended formal recognition of their titles. Chandra Shekhar Azad, also known as Azad, was an Indian revolutionary who lived from July 23, 1906, to February 27, 1931. Tantia Tope Tantia Tope (1814–18 April 1859) was a general and important leader in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was born as Ramachandra Panduranga into a Maratha Brahman household and adopted the title Tope, which means commanding officer. A close follower of Nana Sahib of Bithur, he went with the Gwalior contingent after the British reconquest of Kanpur and General Windham's forced escape from the city. Jhalkaribai Jhalkaribai (22 November 1830 - 1858) was a Koli veerangana, or lady soldier, who played an important part in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She served in Queen Laxmibai's Jhansi women's army. She was born into a Koli family and succeeded in becoming a famous advisor in the Rani of Jhansi. At the peak of the battle for Fort Jhansi, she dressed herself as the Queen and fought on her behalf on the front lines, helping the Queen to safely exit the fort. Jhalkaribai's story has remained in the everyday memory of the people of Bundelkhand for a long time. Kailash Satyarthi Kailash Satyarthi (born on January 11, 1954) is an Indian children's rights activist. He founded Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save Childhood Movement), Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, Global March Against Child Labour, and GoodWeave International. Satyarthi organized the Global March against Child Labor in 1998, which was an 80,000-kilometer physical march across 103 countries for an end to child labor. The initiative expanded to become one of the greatest social movements in history for abused children. The demands of the participants, which included kids and teens, were included in the draft of ILO Convention 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour. The next year, the Convention was completely accepted by the ILO Conference in Geneva. Raghuram Rajan Raghuram Govind Rajan (born 3 February 1963) is an Indian economist and international professor who holds the Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He served as the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from September 2013 till September 2016. Rajan served as the IMF's Chief Economist and Director of Research from 2003 to 2006.
