Kunwar Singh

He was from Ujjaini house of Jagdispur who at the age of 80 revolted against British India Company during India’s First War of Independence in 1857. He actively commanded a small group of soldiers in guerilla warfare against the British troops. In 1992, the Bihar government created Veer Kunwar Singh University, Arrah in the Bhojpur district, and issued a commemorative stamp in recognition of his contributions to the Indian Freedom Struggle.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad

In addition to being the first president of the Republic of India, he was the first to serve in that capacity twice. During the 1930 Salt Satyagraha and the 1942 Quit India Movement, he was a pivotal Bihari leader. He was elected president of the Indian National Congress at the 1934 Bombay Session.

Baikuntha Shukla

He belonged to revolutionary groups such as HSRA and the Hindustan Seva Dal. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were hanged as a result of his murder of Phanindra Nath Gosh, who had an approver.

Basawon Singh

He and Yogendra Shukla were founder members of the Congress Socialist Party in Bihar. He fought for the rights of the poor, industrial workers, and agricultural laborers while participating in the Indian Independence Movement.

Yogendra Shukla

He was a founder member of both the Congress Socialist party from Bihar and the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). He was incarcerated in Kalapani as one of the leaders of the revolutionary movement.

Sheel Bhadra Yajee

He was a Bihar-born activist and peasant leader who was connected to the Kisan Movement and the Congress Socialist Party. He co-founded the All-India Forward Bloc with Subash Chandra Bose in 1939. Ramesh Chandra Jha

Ramesh Chandra Jha was an Indian freedom fighter and poet from Bihar. Son of a senior gandhian and freedom fighter Lakshmi Narayan Jha, who also contributed to the Indian Freedom Struggle from Bihar. In addition to being a patriotic poet, Jha was frequently imprisoned during British rule for his participation in the Quit India Movement.

Sir Syed Ali Imam

The first Indian to represent India at the round table in 1929 was Sir Syed Ali Imam, a barrister and freedom fighter from the state of Bihar. He served as Prime Minister of Hyderabad state from 1919 to 1922. He was one of the founders of Modern Bihar.

Babu Amar Singh

Babu Amar Singh was a revolutionary in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and the brother of Kunwar Singh, the ruler of Jagdishpur principality of Bihar. Following Babu Kunwar Singh's passing, Babu Amar Singh learned of British tax collectors in Arrah. He subsequently led an attack on them and defeated them.

Hare Krishna Singh

Hare Krishna Singh was the commander-in-chief of Kumwar Singh’s forces in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was assigned the responsibility of leading Kunwar Singh's army after he played a significant part in persuading him to join the fight against the British. During the uprising, he was thirty years old and took part in numerous conflicts with the British military. Some people believe he was the "prime mover" behind the uprising against the British in Bihar.

She played a heroic role in the Quit India Movement. Saraswati Devi accelerated the propaganda effort for the production of Khadi and Charkha in 1945. The members of the Lower chamber of the Bihar Legislature elected her to the upper chamber in 1947.

Prabhavati Devi

Prabhavati Devi Naraya was an Indian independence activist from the state of Bihar, and wife of compatriot independence and social activist, Jayaprakash Narayan. Using the Gandhian model, she founded the Mahila Charkha Samiti in Patna to engage destitute and abandoned women in the Charkha or spinning wheel movement.

Tarkeshwari Sinha

Tarkeshwari Sinha was an Indian politician and Independence activist from Bihar. Among the first female politicians of the country, she took an active role in the Quit India Movement. In 1952, she became victorious from the Patna East Constituency in the first general assembly elections following Indian independence.

From 1950 to 1962, Rajendra Prasad, an Indian politician, lawyer, journalist, and academic, presided as India's first president. During the Indian independence movement, he joined the Indian National Congress and rose to prominence as a Bihar native leader.

Jayaprakash Narayan

Jayaprakash Narayan Srivastava was an Indian politician, theoretician, and independence activist who was also referred to as JP and Lok Nayak. He is primarily known for spearheading the opposition to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the middle of the 1970s and advocating for a "total revolution" to oust her.
