Lahuji Salve was a social reformer, activist, philosopher, and revolutionary. In the Indian state of Maharashtra, in the village of Peth, at the base of the Purandar fort, he was born in 1811. Encouraging them to fight for India's independence from the British Raj and the advancement of the Untouchables, Lahuji was their guide. Babu Genu was an Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary who lived from 1908 to 1930. Manchester-based cloth merchant George Frazier was shipping bundles of imported fabric to Mumbai Port on December 12, 1930, from his shop in the Fort neighborhood's Old Hanuman Galli. He requested and received police protection. Despite the activists' entreaties not to, the police were able to force the protesters away and move the vehicle. Shaheed Babu Genu was shouting Mahatma Gandhi's honors in front of the car on Kalbadevi Road close to Bhangwadi. The policeman asked him to run over Shahid Babu Genu, but he refused.The English policeman then took the wheel and smashed the truck onto Babu Genu, crushing him under the car and killing him.
