  • Bakht Khan

He had Rohilla heritage and was born in Bijnor . He worked for the British East India Company as a Subedar. He marched to Delhi with a sizable contingent of Rohilla sepoys after learning of the 1857 Revolt. He served as the head of the Indian freedom fighters in Delhi under Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Mughal emperor. He fled after Delhi was taken and carried on fighting the British at Shahjahanpur and Lucknow.
  • Nana Sahib

Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao II adopted Nana Sahib as his son. He was born as Dhondu Pant. During the Revolt of 1857, he captured Kanpur and compelled the English forces to surrender. After this success, he was declared the Peshwa. He continued the freedom struggle as a vassal of Bahadur Shah Zafar. After the recapture of Kanpur by the English forces under Havelock, he escaped to Nepal.
  • Tatya Tope

Ramchandra Pandurang Tope was the Maratha general Tatya Tope's real name. He was Nana Sahib's commander-in-chief and an associate. At Kanpur, he overcame General Windham, the English leader. Following Nana Sahib's escape, he and Rani Laxmi Bai took Gwalior into custody. In 1859, the English seized and executed Mansingh, a vassal of the monarch of Gwalior Scindia, based on information he provided.
  • Begum Hazrat Mahal

Begum Hazrat Mahal was a native of Faizabad and the spouse of Wajid Ali Shah, the final king of Awadh. Mehakpari was her common name. She led the Indian rebels in Awadh during the 1857 Revolt. It was Raja Jailal Singh who helped her. Birjis Qadir, her son, was proclaimed the Nawab by her. She sought refuge in Nepal following Awadh's capture, where she passed away.

  • Rani Laxmi Bai

She was the Queen of Jhansi. Her real name was Manu or Manikarnika . She was married to the King of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao. She led insurgents in Jhansi and Gwalior during the 1857 Revolt. She was a great fighter herself, and during the battle against the British in Jhansi, she displayed extraordinary bravery. She persisted in fighting and refused to give up. At the young age of 31, she was martyred on the battlefield. She was described as "a man among the mutineers" by British General Hugh Rose.
  • Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey served as a sepoy in the East India Company Army's 34th regiment of Bengal Native Infantry. He came from Bali's Nagwa. He is regarded as a symbol of the 1857 uprising. Pandey revolted against the British by firing at the officers of his regiment Major Hewsan and Lieutenant Bob.
  • Khan Bahadur Khan

He had retired as a judge and was a pensioner of the East India Company. Additionally, he was the grandson of Hafiz Rehmat Khan, the Nawab of Bareilly. He assumed control of Bareilly's government during the Revolt of 1857. He valiantly led a 30,000-man army in combat against the British.
  • Maulvi Liaqat Ali

He was born in Prayagraj's (then Allahabad's) Mahgaon village. He assumed command of the Prayagraj Rebellion in 1857 and took control of a sizable portion of the fort. He was thereafter proclaimed Prayag's subedar. He established Khusro Bagh as his capital and began to rule.
  • Jhalkari Bai

She was a key figure in the upheavals of 1857. She oversaw the women's Brigade Durgadal under Rani Laxmi Bai. She put her own life in danger to prevent the British from capturing the queen since she looked like Rani Laxmibai.
