Spain will provide military aid to Ukraine valued at one billion euros

About News:-
  • In a deal signed in Madrid by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Spain promised to give military assistance to Ukraine valued at one billion euros ($1.08 billion) this year.

  • Twelve Patriot anti-aircraft missiles built in the United States, nineteen Leopard 2A4 tanks that were once owned by Germany, and additional Spanish-made weaponry like anti-drone gear and ammo will all be shipped to Ukraine by Spain.
  • Humanitarian aid, economic recovery, reconstruction, support for Ukrainian reforms on the path to EU and NATO membership and our Peace Formula, and strengthening of sanctions against Russia – all these areas of cooperation are covered in our agreement.

  • Summer Fiesta 2024, which runs from 29th May to 28th June 2024,
  • promises a myriad of engaging and innovative activities in the fields of Creative and Performing Arts, Science, and more, ensuring that every child finds something intriguing to explore and learn.
  • During the Summer Fiesta, special workshops and programs will be conducted weekly, including sessions on Odissi dance, Yoga, Calligraphy, Music recitals, Games, etc.
  • These workshops are designed to provide children with opportunities to develop and showcase their skills and talents.

About News:- The Maha Krishi Samriddhi Yojana (MKSY) is a critical initiative launched by the Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) to provide financial support to food and agro-based industries and agri-infrastructure projects, including startups engaged in processing activities and the construction of agricultural infrastructure facilities. Key Points :- About the MKSY, or Maha Krishi Samriddhi Yojana:- Qualifications:-
  • MKSY provides support to individuals, proprietorships, limited liability partnership concerns, farmer-producer corporations (FPCs), partnerships, private limited corporations, and public limited companies.
  • Additionally covered by MKSY under "Agriculture" are newly established food and agro-processing facilities (including those taken over from banks and financial institutions).
Features:-
  • MKSY provides financing for both new and existing unit expansions. This covers the purchase or construction of real estate, buildings, machinery, and plants under the project's budget (which also involves taking over the current unit).
  • This covers products and services such as bank guarantees (BGs), working capital/export credit, letters of credit (LCs), and term loans with a maximum loan ceiling of up to Rs. 100 crore (no minimum amount required).
  • Term loan payback terms under MKSY are up to ten years. All loans for working capital must be repaid upon demand.
  • The MKSY cluster-based approach aligns with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.
  • MKSY complies with directives from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare (MoAF&W) and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW).

RBI Annual Report: Unclaimed bank deposits increase by 26% to Rs 78,213 crore

About News:- According to the RBI Annual Report, unclaimed deposits with banks increased by 26% year over year to Rs 78,213 crore by the end of March 2024. Key Points :-
  • As of the end of March 2023, the amount in the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund was Rs 62,225 crore.
  • Banks, including cooperative banks, send unclaimed deposits to the RBI's Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund on behalf of account holders who have had their accounts open for ten years or more.
  • The Reserve Bank created the centralized web platform UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information) to make it easier for depositors to search for unclaimed deposits across numerous institutions quickly and centrally.

Indian Arm Wrestlers Win Seven Medals At Asian Championship 2024

About News:- The Indian arm wrestling contingent delivered an outstanding performance at the 2024 Asian Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, bringing home a total of seven medals, which included one gold and six bronze Key Points :-
  • Under the leadership of President Ms. Preeti Jhangiani, the People's Armwrestling Federation of India, the Indian contingent was competing.
  • In the left-hand para category, Shrimant Jha took part and won a gold medal; in the right-hand para category, he took home one bronze medal.
  • In the Masters division, Laxman Singh Bhandari (Left & Right hand) won two bronze medals.
  • One of the Pro Panja League's top players for the Baroda Badshahs, Sachin Goyal, is also quite well-liked on social media. He placed third in the competitive right-hand Senior category.
  • Meanwhile, Ibi Lollen from Arunachal Pradesh clinched two bronze medals in the Women’s right and left-hand categories. Pramod Mukhi stood in fourth place in a fiercely intense bout.

    • Jain has served as India’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan from 2014-2017 and Slovakia from 2017-2018. Before this, he served in different capacities at Indian Missions in Moscow, Kyiv, St Petersburg, London, and Kathmandu.
    • He had also served as a Member of the UN Group of Governmental Experts on the Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the context of International Security during 2012-13, according to the Indian Embassy in Kyiv.

  • ‘Agnibaan - SOrTeD’ Sub-Orbital Technology Demonstrator also has the unique distinction of having been launched from India's first private launch pad called ‘Dhanush’ established by Agnikul.
  • It is also India's first semi-cryogenic engine-powered rocket launch.
About Agnibaan:-
  • Agnibaan is a two-stage rocket with a capacity to carry up to 300 kg to a height of 700 km. The rocket engines are powered by liquid oxygen or kerosene.
  • It can access both low- and high-inclination orbits and is completely mobile, designed for accessing more than 10 launch ports, as per the company.
  • The rocket uses a semi-cryogenic engine with a mix of liquid and gas propellants, a technology that is yet to be demonstrated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in any of its rockets.
  • The Agnilet sub-cooled liquid oxygen-based propulsion system, which was developed domestically, will power the SOrTeD mission, a single-stage launch vehicle demonstration.
  • In addition to collecting vital flight data and demonstrating in-house and domestically developed technology, the test flight seeks to guarantee optimal system performance for Agnikul's orbital launch vehicle, the "Agnibaan."

Indian climber Satyadeep Gupta Makes History by Becoming the First to Climb Both Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse in a Single Season

Key Points :-
  • Satyadeep Gupta, an Indian mountaineer, made history by being the first person to climb both Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse twice in a single season.
  • Being the first Indian to climb Mount Everest to Mount Lhotse in 11 hours and 15 minutes set another record.
  • The organizers claim that on Monday at midday, Gupta scaled the 8,516-meter-high Mount Lhotse, and at midnight, at 12:45 am, he successfully ascended the 8,849-meter-high Mount Everest.
  • This remarkable feat is the first Double Dual Ascent of the fourth-highest peak in the world and the highest peak in the world in a single season. Climbing guides Pastemba Sherpa and Nima Ungdi Sherpa were with him.
  • Gupta had previously summited Mt Everest on May 21 and Mt Lhotse on May 22.
