The Agneepath/Agnipath Scheme, introduced by the central government, involves recruiting young candidates as Agniveers for a four-year tenure in the Indian Armed Forces. Every year, the Armed Forces aims to recruit thousands of Agniveers through the Agnipath/Agneepath scheme. At the conclusion of this four-year period, these Agniveers will transition into society as disciplined, dynamic, motivated, and skilled individuals, ready to pursue employment in various sectors and careers of their choice.

The Agneepath Scheme represents an initiative aimed at recruiting thousands of Agniveers into the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Entry through the Agneepath Scheme is initially for a four-year duration, during which recruits will receive training in requisite skills by the armed forces. This transformative recruitment initiative will bring a more youthful profile to the armed forces. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar has announced the induction of women into the armed forces under this scheme, depending on the specific requirements of the respective services.
There are various motives behind the introduction of Agneepath Scheme and some of these are as follows -
Young cadets aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces can apply through the Agneepath Scheme, which targets individuals between 17 and a half and 21 years of age. Successful candidates under this program are referred to as "AGNIVERS."
Agniveers, upon recruitment, serve for a period of four years, involving six months of training and a subsequent deployment of 3.5 years. Post their service tenure, they will have the option to reapply to continue their service in the armed forces.
Under their various categories, each candidate must meet specific medical eligibility requirements before joining the Indian Armed Forces. Agniveers with low medical categories will still be allowed to serve in the army as Agniveers.
Agniveer candidates are only chosen based on how well they perform in the physical examination, the medical examination, and the training routine. Also, check about 7 new defense companies in India.
