Ministry of Defence Signs 350th iDEX Contract to Develop a Miniaturised Satellite: The Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Defence, achieved a significant milestone with the signing of its 350th contract on June 25, 2024. • iDEX Prime (Space) Satellite Grant : Pixxel secured the prestigious iDEX Prime (Space) Satellite Grant, awarded under the Mission DefSpace Challenge. This grant empowers Pixxel to develop miniaturised multi-payload satellites specifically designed for the Indian Air Force.
• Capabilities of the Miniaturised Satellite : The satellite is capable of carrying Electro-Optical, Infrared, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and Hyperspectral payloads weighing up to 150 kg. This innovation in space electronics aims to miniaturise payloads traditionally deployed on larger satellites, enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
• Advantages of Modular Design : The modular small satellite integrates multiple miniaturised payloads based on specific operational requirements. This approach offers advantages such as faster deployment, cost-effectiveness, scalability, adaptability, and reduced environmental footprint.

• Defence Secretary’s Appreciation : Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane commended the dedication of new defence innovators in pushing technological boundaries and fortifying national security.
