To reach Tambaram Air Force Station, take a taxi from the airport in 30-40 minutes. Buses such as 105, 51, or V51 are available nearby at Tambaram East.
To Tambaram station, one can walk and/or use taxis for 3 miles. The train to Tambaram Sanatorium is also very handy. Websites like Moovit can be used for bus schedules.
The Tambaram AFS, Chennai, now expects to have extended runways to accommodate large aircraft even when there are floods. This can make small city flights possible to reduce congestion at airports.
Sometimes, helicopters from the Navy also land here. Helicopter training also remains the secondary occupation of pilots and ground staff.
