NID PYQ Series 2022–2026 Maths and Reasoning preparation means practising past-style questions on blood relations, direction, calendar, series, coding and rotation. NID asks mostly reasoning and very few maths questions, so these topics carry the most value. Solving them shows how the exam tests logic, so you learn the method and not just the answer.
The same topics also help in NIFT and UCEED. NID does not release its papers officially, so these questions come from a mix of earlier and recent NID-style papers. Start with the NID DAT syllabus and the NID exam pattern 2026, then try the questions given below.
In the creative and aptitude part, NID mostly asks reasoning and general knowledge. Maths and English questions are rare. You may see one or two maths questions at most.
The table below shows the topics that came up repeatedly. Start with the verbal topics because they are the easiest to score.
|
Type |
Topics |
|
Verbal reasoning |
Blood relation, direction, Venn diagram, figure counting, dice, clock, series, analogy, classification, seating arrangement |
|
Non-verbal reasoning |

|
Maths |
Basic counting, percentage, area and perimeter, handshake type questions |
These five questions cover seating, blood relation, calendar, direction and observation. Try each question first; then check the video for the solution.

(B) "ELEVEN PLUS TWO" is the same as "TWELVE PLUS ONE"
(C) "CREATE" is the same as "REACT"
(D) "SILENT" is the same as "LISTEN"
Ans. (C) "CREATE" is the same as "REACT"
These are the ideas that the session repeated the most. Learn them once, and many questions become easy.
|
Topic |
Key Idea |
|
Blood relation |
Check gender and the direction of the relation |
|
Direction |
Imagine yourself as the walker |
|
Calendar |
Find today first, then move day by day |
|
Dice |
If two faces are common in two dice, the remaining faces are opposite |
|
Figure counting |
Count squares also when asked for rectangles, but not the other way |
|
Mirror and water image |
Y axis is mirror, X axis is water image |
|
Paper cutting |
Undo the folds in reverse order |
|
Stability |
A wide, flat base gives the most stability |
|
Same area |
A circle has the smallest perimeter |
|
Series |
Try alternate steps, pairs and sums when simple gaps fail |
The NID pattern has changed over the years. The faculty in the session noted that the GAT part was removed in 2026, and other sources say the 2026 Prelims was fully creative. So recent papers matter the most.
As per dedicated faculty, GAT is unlikely in 2027 but cannot be ruled out. The safe plan is to keep reasoning practice going. It is useful for NIFT and UCEED as well.
|
Particular |
What to Do |
|
2026 pattern |
Study the latest paper first |
|
GAT in 2027 |
Unlikely, but not certain, so do not drop reasoning |
|
Main question types |
Reasoning and GK, with very few maths questions |
|
Other exams |
The same practice helps NIFT and UCEED basics |

Most students lose marks because of small errors, not because of hard topics. The table below shows the mistakes from this session and the fix for each.
|
Mistake |
Fix |
|
Mixing up left and right in direction questions |
Imagine yourself as the walker |
|
Reading the relation the wrong way round |
Check who is asked about whom |
|
Choosing "correct" when the question asks "incorrect" |
Underline the last line |
|
Spending too long on one series question |
Try 3 or 4 ideas, then move on |
|
Counting only big shapes in figure counting |
Count small and joined shapes too |
|
Trying to find the right option in non-verbal questions |
Remove the wrong options first |
Speed comes from daily practice. The session gave a simple plan that you can start today.
Solve 5 series questions and 5 non-verbal series questions every day. It takes about 10 minutes.
Use the elimination method in non-verbal questions. Removing wrong options is easier than finding the right one.
Give yourself 45 seconds for easy questions and 60 to 90 seconds for maths questions.
Do not judge yourself on one mock. Check the average of three mocks.
Revise every solved question again after a few days.
Solving past question trends gives design aspirants a clear roadmap of how analytical and aptitude concepts are evaluated. While the weightage of quantitative problems in NID remains minimal, reasoning skills such as spatial orientation, series patterns, and logical deductions build core problem-solving agility. Practising these varied question formats alongside creative drawing strengthens your overall design aptitude, making your preparation well-rounded for NID DAT as well as parallel exams like NIFT and UCEED.
Use the NID 3-month preparation strategy to build a plan. You can also try the NID DAT sample paper and explore PW Design and Architecture courses for classes and mocks.
