The UCEED 2027 reservation rules specify the percentage of seats reserved for different categories and the conditions you need to meet to claim these benefits. You should check your category, certificate requirements and applicable reservation rules before completing the registration process.
The reservation policy applies to B.Des admissions through UCEED at participating institutes. The reservation percentages for Indian nationals are prescribed according to the applicable Government of India rules. PwD reservation is provided as a sub-category within each applicable seat category.

The GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST percentages apply to seats in every course, while PwD candidates receive 5% reservation within each applicable category.
You can claim GEN-EWS reservation only if you satisfy the conditions prescribed by the Government of India. The certificate must also meet the date requirement specified for UCEED 2027.
You are eligible for 10% reservation of seats in every course under the GEN-EWS category, subject to the prescribed conditions.
The benefit is available only if you belong to the General category and satisfy the conditions specified under the applicable Government of India norms.
The GEN-EWS benefit follows the conditions given in OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II dated January 17, 2019, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
For UCEED 2027, your EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026, to be accepted for the examination.
If you belong to the OBC-NCL category, you need to satisfy both the Central List and Non-Creamy Layer requirements to claim reservation.
You are eligible for 27% reservation of seats in every course under the OBC-NCL category, subject to the applicable conditions.
Your OBC community must be included in the current updated Central List of OBCs.
If your community appears only in a state OBC list and is not included in the current Central List of OBCs, you cannot claim OBC-NCL reservation.
The Non-Creamy Layer requirement will follow the applicable Government of India notification and norms.
For UCEED 2027, your OBC-NCL certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026 to be accepted for the examination.
If you belong to the creamy layer of OBC, you are not entitled to OBC-NCL reservation. You will be treated as belonging to the General category and will be eligible only for OPEN seats.
If you belong to the Scheduled Caste category, your caste must be included in the applicable central list to claim the reservation benefit.
You are eligible for 15% reservation of seats in every course under the SC category, subject to the applicable rules.
Your caste must be mentioned in the respective central list for your state published by the Government of India.
Your SC reservation benefit will be subject to verification of the relevant documents during the admission process.
If you belong to the Scheduled Tribe category, you need to be included in the applicable central list to claim ST reservation.
You are eligible for 7.5% reservation of seats in every course under the ST category, subject to the applicable rules.
Your tribe must be mentioned in the respective central list for your state published by the Government of India.
Your ST reservation benefit will be provided subject to verification of the relevant documents.
PwD reservation is provided as a sub-category within OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST seats. You need to satisfy the prescribed disability criteria to claim this benefit.
You receive 5% reservation in each of the OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats if you meet the PwD eligibility requirements.
You are eligible for the PwD sub-category if you have at least 40% impairment, irrespective of the type of disability specified under the applicable provisions.
The stated provisions include locomotor disability, visual disability and severe dyslexia, subject to the applicable requirements.
You can also be included in the PwD sub-category if you are a leprosy-cured candidate and are otherwise fit to pursue the course.
If PwD seats remain unfilled, they are reallocated to candidates belonging to the same category in the order of merit.
You need to satisfy the applicable category conditions to receive the reservation benefit. Your category entered during registration also remains important throughout the UCEED 2027 examination process.
If you belong to GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD categories/sub-categories, you will be declared qualified based on a relaxed criterion, as specified under the UCEED evaluation rules.
The category you enter in the UCEED 2027 database will be treated as final for the examination.
You cannot request a change of category after registration. You should therefore check your category and supporting documents carefully before submitting the form.
The reservation policy also specifies what happens when seats reserved for certain categories remain vacant after the applicable admission process.
GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST seats are reserved for candidates who belong to the respective categories and satisfy the applicable eligibility conditions.
Seats remaining vacant under the SC, ST, EWS and OBC-NCL categories are not transferable and will not be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories.
You can receive the reservation benefit only after the required documents are verified.
If you use a false, fake or incorrect document, or provide false, incorrect or incomplete information to claim reservation, you can be excluded from all admission processes.
If you have already been admitted and it is later discovered that you used incorrect documents or information to claim reservation, your admission can be cancelled.
Foreign nationals are covered by separate seat-allocation provisions and do not receive the reservation benefits available under GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories.
You are considered a foreign national if you are not a citizen of India by birth or naturalisation, provided you are not an OCI/PIO candidate covered under the separate OCI/PIO provisions.
Foreign national candidates are considered for supernumerary seats, with a cap of 10% of the total number of seats in every course.
Foreign nationals are outside the reservation provisions for:

OBC-NCL
SC
ST
PwD
There are no separate supernumerary seats or sub-categories for female candidates within the foreign national supernumerary seats.
If you are a foreign national, you need to satisfy the OPEN category requirements in addition to having an All India Rank.
You must have an All India Rank (AIR) to be considered for seat allocation.
You must satisfy all eligibility requirements applicable to an OPEN category candidate.
Your seat allocation is carried out after the seat allocation to all Indian national candidates in the same round.
A seat can be allotted to you if your rank is the same as or better than the closing rank of the OPEN category candidate for the relevant academic programme, subject to the 10% cap and order of merit.
The reservation and seat-allocation treatment for OCI/PIO candidates depends on when your OCI/PIO card was issued.
If your OCI/PIO card was issued before March 4, 2021, you are considered for seats in the OPEN category, subject to the applicable rules.
After qualifying UCEED 2027, you will be included in the Common Rank List and/or CRL-PwD list, as applicable.
You are not entitled to reservation under:
GEN-EWS
OBC-NCL
SC
ST
Female supernumerary seats are not added to the seat matrix for these candidates because the brochure states that female candidates are well-represented, at more than 20%, in B.Des admissions.
If your OCI/PIO card was issued on or after the specified date, you are treated as a foreign national for UCEED 2027 seat allocation.
If your OCI/PIO card was issued on or after March 4, 2021, you will be treated as a foreign national.
You will be eligible only for the foreign national supernumerary seats, subject to the applicable eligibility and seat-allocation conditions.
You need to provide valid identity proof in the form of a citizenship certificate, foreign passport and/or OCI/PIO Card, as applicable.
You should keep the required category certificates and supporting documents ready before the admission process. The reservation benefit remains subject to document verification.
If you are claiming GEN-EWS reservation, your EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026, as specified for UCEED 2027.
If you are claiming OBC-NCL reservation, your certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2026, and your community must be included in the current Central List of OBCs.
If you are claiming SC or ST reservation, your certificate must correspond to the applicable central list for your state.
If you are claiming PwD reservation, you need to provide the documents required to establish your eligibility under the applicable PwD criteria.
If you are a foreign national or OCI/PIO candidate, you need to provide the applicable citizenship, passport or OCI/PIO documentation.
Reservation is one part of the B.Des admission process. You also need to satisfy the applicable UCEED eligibility, examination and seat-allocation requirements.
You need to qualify UCEED 2027 according to the applicable examination and category criteria.
If you are claiming reservation, you need to satisfy the conditions prescribed for your category and provide valid supporting documents.
Your final seat allocation depends on the applicable category, rank, institute and seat-matrix rules.

The reservation policy also includes an important provision about admissions after the counselling process is completed.
You cannot expect a spot admission round in the IITs after the counselling process has been completed.
IIITDM Jabalpur may conduct a spot admission round at the institutional level if seats remain vacant after the completion of counselling.
You should check the following points before submitting your UCEED 2027 application and category details.
Enter your correct category during registration because you cannot request a category change after registration.
If you are claiming GEN-EWS or OBC-NCL reservation, check that your certificate meets the April 1, 2026 issuance requirement specified for UCEED 2027.
If you are claiming OBC-NCL, SC or ST reservation, verify that your community is included in the applicable central list.
Keep your reservation documents ready because the benefit is provided only after the required documents are verified.
If you are a foreign national, you are considered for supernumerary seats and are outside the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD reservation categories.
If you are an OCI/PIO candidate, check whether your card was issued before or on/after March 4, 2021, as the applicable seat-allocation treatment differs.
Providing false, incorrect or incomplete information to claim a reservation benefit can result in exclusion from the admission process or cancellation of admission.
The UCEED reservation policy 2027 provides 10% reservation for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates, while PwD candidates receive 5% reservation within each applicable category. Foreign nationals are considered separately through supernumerary seats, while OCI/PIO candidates are treated according to the date their cards were issued.
