Eligibility Criteria
  • Nationality: Indian Nationals/OCI/FN (Foreign National) can apply.
  • Age Criteria: Candidate’s age should be 17 years as on the 31st of December of the year of admission.
  • Qualifying Exam: Candidate must pass 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board/university of any state.
  • Subjects: Must pass the qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: The minimum aggregate marks should be 60% for OBC & General category and 50% for SC/ST/OPH candidates in the qualifying exam.
  • In case of students appearing for a qualifying examination, they are allowed to apply for AIIMS. Afterward, however, they need to submit documentary evidence of passing the qualifying examination with the required score and subjects.
  • In case of institute considering an examination of an Indian university or a foreign university equivalent to 12th class under 10+2 scheme, the candidate has to produce a certificate to the effect that examination passed by them Is equivalent to 11 2th class under 10+2 scheme. This certificate has to be obtained from the concerned Indian university or Association of Indian Universities.
OCI Eligibility Criteria:
Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who are registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are eligible to apply for AIIMS. The same terms and conditions applicable to Indian national will apply to OCIs. For being eligible for AIIMS, OCIs need to produce OCI registration proof under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955.
 
Foreign Nationals:
For being eligible for admissions to MBBS program, the foreign candidates nominated by the government of India need to pass intermediate science examination or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. There is no need for foreign nationals to appear at Competitive Entrance Examination. This provision is applicable only to AIIMS New Delhi.
 
Admission Criteria for OBC:
There are 181 seats available in OBC quota across all AIIMS.
  • A candidate belonging to OBC category needs to secure a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 12th class examination or equivalent from any recognized board.
  • For claiming OBC quota, the applicants need to ensure that they don’t belong to creamy layer section mentioned in Column 3 of the schedule to the government of India, Department of Personnel & Training. A certificate to the same effect should be produced in the format given at the end of the prospectus. Such a certificate should be no older than a year from date of first counseling.
Admission Criteria for SC/ST:
  • For candidates belonging to SC category and ST category, there are 101 and 53 seats are reserved respectively. Another benefit granted to SC/ST candidates is that they need to score a minimum aggregate of 50% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in class 12th examination or equivalent from any recognized board. For claiming SC/ST reservation, necessary certificates are required to be produced in provided format during counseling by candidates.
Admission Criteria for OPH:
  • AIIMS New Delhi reserves 3% of total seats for Orthopedic Physically Handicapped on horizontal basis. For claiming reservation, the disability to be considered is of lower limbs between 50%-70%. If such candidates are not available, the candidates with disability of lower limbs between 40% and 50% will be considered. Such candidates need to produce disability certificated issued by duly constituted and authorized state medical board or central government institutions/hospitals.
AIIMS MBBS 2019 Reservation and Seats
 
For OPH Candidates
For Orthopedic Physically Handicapped candidates, a 3% of reservation is made on a horizontal basis in available seats at AIIMS New Delhi in addition to the aforementioned seat distribution. This reservation is for the candidates having disability of lower limbs between 50%-70%. In case such candidate are not available than candidates having a disability of 40% to 50% will be considered. It may be claimed by producing disability certificate issued by duly constituted and authorized state medical board or central government institutions/hospitals.
 
For SC/ST
In AIIMS New Delhi, the seats reserved for candidates belonging to SC and ST category are 11 and 5 respectively. In rest of the AIIMS, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC category and 7.5% seats are reserved for ST category. A certificate needs to be produced during counseling process by candidates supporting their SC/ST reservation claim.
 
For OBC
In AIIMS New Delhi, 19 seats reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category. For OBC candidates in rest of the AIIMS, there is a reservation of 27% of total available seats. The candidates claiming the reservation need to ensure they don’t belong to creamy layer. A certificate to the same effect in the format given in the prospectus is required to be produced. The certificate should not be older than a year from date of first counseling.
 
Seat Inter-convertibility
If seats reserved for SC candidates remain unclaimed, ST candidates will be considered for the same and vice versa. If candidates fail to qualify for SC/ST categories, the general category will fill the vacant seats. Similarly, if seats reserved for OBC category remain vacant, these will be allotted to the general category after calling all eligible OBC candidates.
