Candidates now have the opportunity to select subjects outside of what they studied in Class 12. This change promotes interdisciplinary learning and allows students to explore new areas of interest that may not have been part of their previous education. This change will help candidates to build up their careers in other domains of their interest.

Other Changes in CUET UG 2025 Exam

Candidates who wish to appear in CUET UG 2025 exam must check the below changes which are expected to be made in CUET UG 2025 exam. These updates to CUET UG 2025 are designed to improve the examination experience by simplifying subject choices, standardizing testing formats, and ensuring that all candidates can use their knowledge effectively.

  • Fewer Subject Choices : One of the major changes in CUET UG 2025 is the reduction in the number of subjects available for candidates to choose from. Previously, candidates had 63 subjects to select from, but this has now been cut down to 37 subjects. This includes 13 languages, 23 main subjects, and a general test. Candidates can now choose only five subjects instead of six. This change aims to simplify the selection process and help candidates focus on subjects that are most relevant to their interests and future studies.
  • Only Computer-Based Testing : The CUET UG 2025 will be conducted entirely as a computer-based test (CBT). This means all candidates will take their exams on computers rather than using paper-based formats. The goal of this change is to make the exam process more efficient and reduce technical problems that occurred in previous years. By using computers, it is easier to manage the exam logistics and provide instant results.
  • Set Exam Duration  : Each subject exam will now have a fixed duration of 60 minutes. This standardization means that candidates will have the same amount of time for each subject, making it easier for them to plan their time during the exam. Previously, exam durations varied between 45 to 60 minutes depending on the subject, which could lead to confusion.
  • All Questions Are Compulsory : In CUET UG 2025, all questions will be compulsory. This means that candidates must answer every question presented in the exam; there will be no option to skip questions or choose between different questions. This change encourages thorough preparation and ensures that candidates demonstrate their knowledge across all topics.
  • General Aptitude Test for Some Subjects : For subjects that have been removed from the CUET UG exam, admissions will now rely on scores from the General Aptitude Test (GAT). This ensures that candidates still have a pathway for admission into various programs, even if certain subjects are no longer part of the CUET UG exam structure.
