Full Form of Constable GD, Constable General Duty, GD and SSC

The Constable GD stands for Constable General Duty. The Staff Selection Commission conducts an open competitive examination to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Constable (General Duty) in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in NCB. 

Furthermore, lakhs of candidates appear in this recruitment exam every year to ace the selection process and get appointed for the post. This recruitment is a three-tier selection process, Written Exam (CBE), Physical Standard and Efficiency test, Medical Examination, and Certificate Verification.

Features of Constable GD

The salient features of SSC Constable General Duty are as follows:

• Firstly, the SSC will conduct the Constable GD exam based on vacancies notified by MHA.
• Next, the candidates can submit applications in online mode only.
• In addition, the commission will conduct Computer Based Examination (CBE) in English and Hindi.
• Also, the CAPFs will conduct selection rounds like PET & PST/ Medical Exam.
• Furthermore, the vacancies of Constable (GD) in SSF and NCB will be filled on an All-India basis. 
• On the other hand, the vacancies in all other CAPFs will be filled as per the availability of vacancies in various States/ UTs.
• Lastly, the collection of all the eligibility certificates/ documents from the candidates for verification will occur during the Medical Exam round by the CAPFs.

Eligibility of Constable GD

Candidates should also fulfill certain SSC Constable GD Eligibility Criteria when applying for the post. The list of eligibility conditions is as follows;

• Nationality: The GD Constable applicants must be a citizen of India.
• Age Limit: The aspirant's age must be between 18-23 years as of the prescribed date. However, there shall be permissible relaxations in the upper age limit for different reserved categories.
• Educational Qualifications: Matriculation/10th Standard Exam from any recognized Board/ University.

Selection Process of Constable GD

The Constable General Duty Selection Process comprises three stages i.e

• Computer Based Exam (CBE)
• Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
• Detailed Medical Examination (DME) & Document Verification

Hence, the candidates must clear the cut-off marks of all three selection rounds in order to receive a provisional appointment letter for the post.

Pay Scale of Constable GD

The candidates appointed for the SSC GD Constable post will also receive the monthly salary in the pay scale given below:

• Sepoy in NCB: Rs.18,000 to 56,900 in Pay Level-1
• All Others Posts: Rs.21,700-69,100 in Pay Level-3
