Corporate Banking

Corporate Banking: Corporate Banking refers to the part of banking that deals with business and other business customers. Corporate banking is a very important area in many large commercial banks and large banks; this team serves as a critical link between the commercial banking group and the capital markets/investment banking teams.

Corporate Banking

Corporate banking teams provide financial services such as cash management, payment processing, credit products and hedging strategies to large companies. Most of these companies are listed on the stock exchange. There are generally three groups within a bank that provide financial services to corporate clients (as opposed to individual clients). These are the corporate banking team (often referred to as small business), commercial banking and the corporate banking team.

Key Highlights of Corporate Banking

  • "Business banking" is not the same as providing banking services to any business; it refers to products and services offered to very large, usually publicly traded companies.
  • Corporate bankers usually have extensive experience in credit and capital markets or investment banking.
  • One of the most common financial services offered to commercial banking customers is a syndicated loan.
  • An important reason for extending credit to Äribank's clients is the development of strong relationships to ensure future investment banking activities.
Benefits of Commercial Banking With all of its benefits, business banking is a great option for businesses of all sizes. The benefits are:
  1. Let your business grow
Business banking can help your business expand easily. You can use your account to collaborate with other companies or send bulk payments, which helps when you need to spend more money on employees. In addition, they offer clearer metrics that you can use to track your company's progress.
  1. Facilitates loan processes
A business bank account provides potential investors with information about the financial health of your company that can help them make more informed investment decisions. The probability of receiving financing from a financial institution or investment capital from an individual investor increases if your company has a merchant account.
  1. Promote a more stylish image for your business
Having a business account is important because people see it as a sign of legitimacy. In addition, a corporate account has the advantage that all the money is handled under one name instead of multiple names. People's perception of your company is directly related to how well you manage your company's finances.
  1. Provides comprehensive financial procedures and methods
Commercial banks provide comprehensive business reports that allow you to assess which costs can be reduced, which sectors require additional investment, and which income streams are the greatest. This is very important for new businesses.
  1. Simplified Tax Audit
Your company must create a company account to benefit from the increased transparency. This allows you to accurately determine the taxable portion of your business based on your net profit.

Corporate Banking vs. Business and Commercial Banking

As stated earlier, the main difference between corporate/business banking and corporate banking is the size and complexity of the borrower's transactions and the nature of the financial services and products required. Other key differences are: Portfolio Size - a corporate banker may have several hundred small business clients in their portfolio, while a commercial banker is unlikely to have more than 8-10 very large and highly complex clients. Loan Structures - Commercial bankers (and especially small business bankers) have access to a wide range of loan products that are much more homogeneous in nature, so underwriting is easier and less tailored than corporate bankers. This means that individuals with much less experience in financial services or exposure to capital markets can still effectively structure their credit according to the company's strict principles and guidelines. The proportion of secured credit - small business and commercial bankers generally give loans that are both senior (principal) and directly guaranteed (special guarantees); most small business and commercial lenders also use alternative means, sometimes called collateral, such as a personal guarantee from the merchant. As borrowers grow and become more sophisticated, the share of unsecured loans increases significantly. For business borrowers, collateral usually depends on floating payments and the cash flow capacity of the business. Priorities and cascades are defined in an agreement between the Company and the Syndicate Companies. Generalized external protection measures (guarantees) of state-owned enterprises or large private enterprises usually come from individuals in other related enterprises. The structure of this security is part of the "guarantee" that determines the total value of the borrower. Borrow vs. relationship consulting - the basic business model of a commercial bank lend money and generate interest coverage on borrowed funds. For corporate bankers, lending is a gateway to becoming a lead arranger for syndicated deals and securing (or retaining) higher-margin investment banking as the relationship and company grow. Fees associated with advisory services such as sovereign debt and equity issuance, potential MandA transactions, etc. are significant and often exceed the value of the company's banking relationship.
