Documents Required for UPSC 2025 : The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE ) is conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and the Interview (Personality Test). At each stage, candidates must submit certain documents that are essential to verifying their eligibility for the exam.

List of UPSC Application Form Documents

UPSC is responsible for ensuring that candidates meet the eligibility criteria for the Civil Services Examination. Therefore, when filling out the UPSC application form for 2025, candidates must upload the following documents to complete their registration:
  1. Scanned Photograph : A passport-sized photo not older than 10 days from the application start date i.e. January 22, 2025. It must include the candidate’s name and the date it was taken, ensuring the face occupies 3/4th of the photo space.
  2. Scanned Signature: A clear and recent scanned signature in the “JPG/JPEG” format.
  3. Government-issued ID : A valid photo ID (e.g., Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving License) in PDF format.
  4. Proof of Age: A Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
  5. Educational Qualification Certificates: Degree certificate/provisional certificate from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification approved by UPSC.
  6. Category/Disability Certificate (if applicable): C andidates who claim reservations under categories (OBC/SC/ST), Disability (PwBD), or EWS will need to provide relevant certificates.
    1. SC/ST Candidates: Valid caste certificate issued by a competent authority.
    2. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate: Based on income for FY 2023-24, 2022-23, and 2021-22.
    3. EWS Candidates: Income and Asset Certificate in prescribed format, based on FY 2023-24.
    4. PwBD Candidates: Valid disability certificate issued by a competent authority.
  7. Undertaking for Government Servants (if applicable): Government employees such as PSU employees must submit an undertaking stating they have informed their department head about their UPSC application.
  8. State-Specific Exemption (if applicable): Candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, or Sikkim are exempt from the Language Paper A requirement. To claim this exemption, provide a certificate confirming eligibility.
  9. Persons with Benchmark Disability (Hearing Impaired): Undertaking/self-declaration for exemption from Paper A on Indian Language.
  10. Document for Defense Officers (if applicable) : If claiming Defense Services Personnel/Ex-Servicemen quota, submit relevant documents required for UPSC.
All required documents must be uploaded during registration, which is open from January 22, 2025, to February 11, 2025.

Documents Required for UPSC Prelims Exam

The Prelims exam is the first stage of the UPSC CSE 2025 exam. To be eligible for this stage, candidates need to carry certain essential documents to the exam center:
  1. Admit Card : The UPSC Prelims Admit Card is a mandatory document. It must be downloaded from the official UPSC website and printed.
  2. Government ID Proof: Carry an original and valid government ID such as the Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport that you mentioned in the UPSC application form.
  3. Passport-Sized Photograph: It is advisable to carry 2 recent passport-sized photos as uploaded in the application form.

  2. Valid ID Proof: An original government-issued photo ID.
  3. High School Marksheet: Required for age proof if uploaded during the application process.
