Explain What is the full form of BDS?

The BDS full form is Bachelor of Dental Surgery. BDS is the only highly qualified dental course approved and recognized by India. A five-year college education allows students to enter the noble profession of science and dental surgery. BDS is a compulsory dental course for students who want to become qualified dentists at any government hospital, college, or private sector. It is one of the most popular courses after the MBBS course followed by biology students. During the BDS course, the year of a paid internship, which is mandatory and is part of the rotating program, allows students to consider 2-3 rotations in different departments. Students study topics such as dental histology, oral surgery, oral pathology, public health dentistry and emergency medicine, and more. They also acquire skills and education in dental practice.

Admission Process of BDS

1. Admission to the BDS is usually done through a national NEET exam conducted across the country.

2. Since 2016, he has been required to enroll in medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, etc. require students to apply for NEET.

3. To meet the requirements for the course, a student must achieve at least 50% in the 10+2-grade exam.

4. Candidates can enter the college admission process only if the eligibility criteria are met.

5. Once students clear the exam limit, they can continue with college admissions counseling.

Eligibility Criteria of BDA

1. The candidate must have passed the qualifying exam 10+2 or an equivalent diploma with at least 50% of the total from a recognized institute.

2. They had to study the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their 10 + 2.

3. At almost all universities offering this course, admission is based on the NEET score. The student must clear part of the exam to qualify for admission.

4. If students are eligible for admission, they must attend counseling sessions organized by the faculty.

5. There are usually three rounds of counseling.

Graduates with a BDS degree have a wide range of career and job prospects. They may choose to be dentists, researchers, teachers, etc. in private or government hospitals or may even open their dental clinic. However, not all graduates finish their work and earn money. Some of them opt for more studies in the field of dental sciences. Since BDS is the only compulsory course in dentistry in India, most students usually find a job within a year of completing their studies. Some also pursue higher studies such as MDS.
