Eligibility Criteria for UPTET

Educational qualification

For primary level (classes I to V), candidates must have passed class XII or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks and must have passed a 2-year diploma in elementary education (D.El.Ed) or equivalent.

For upper primary level (classes VI to VIII), candidates must have passed class XII or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks and must have passed a 4-year bachelor of elementary education (B.El.Ed) or equivalent.

Age limit

There is no age limit for appearing in UPTET.

Other requirements

Candidates must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh and must fulfill other conditions as prescribed by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board which are as follows: 

Residency: Candidates must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh and should have proof of the same.

Nationality: Candidates must be an Indian citizen.

Character Certificate: Candidates must produce a character certificate from a competent authority.

Medical Fitness: Candidates must be physically fit and mentally sound to pursue a career in teaching.

Syllabus

The syllabus for UPTET consists of various subjects relevant to teaching, such as child development and pedagogy, language I and II, mathematics, environmental studies, and social studies/sciences. Language I (Hindi)

Reading comprehension: Candidates tested on their ability to comprehend a passage in Hindi and answer questions based on the same.

Writing skills: Candidates tested on their writing skills in Hindi, including grammar, vocabulary, and sentence formation.

Language II (English/Sanskrit)

Reading comprehension: Candidates tested on their ability to comprehend a passage in English/Sanskrit and answer questions based on the same.

Mathematics

Social and Environmental Issues: Candidates tested on their understanding of social and environmental issues, such as pollution, waste management, and conservation of resources.

Sustainable Development: Candidates tested on their understanding of sustainable development, including the use of renewable resources and reducing the carbon footprint.

Social Studies/Sciences

History: Candidates tested on their understanding of historical events, including the ancient, medieval, and modern periods.

Geography: Candidates tested on their understanding of geography, including physical geography, human geography, and economic geography.

Political Science: Candidates tested on their understanding of political science, including the political system, government, and politics.
