GATE ME Marks Distribution 2027

Mechanical Engineering (ME) falls under the group of papers where the Subject Questions section includes Engineering Mathematics as a paper-specific component (rather than a separately listed section). This applies to ME along with AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, IN, MN, MT, NM, PE, and PI.

Note: For ME and the papers listed above, the 13 marks of Engineering Mathematics are included within the overall Subject Questions weightage of 85 marks — i.e., 13 marks Engineering Mathematics + 72 marks core subject = 85 marks Subject Questions, plus 15 marks General Aptitude, totalling 100 marks.

This differs from papers such as AR, CY, DA, EY, GE, GG, MA, PH, RA, ST, XH, and XL, where the entire 85 marks come directly from the subject concerned, with no separate Engineering Mathematics component.

GATE ME Marking Scheme 2027

Questions in the GATE ME paper carry either 1 mark or 2 marks each, depending on the question.

  • For a wrong answer to a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark is deducted.

  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers to MSQ or NAT questions.

  • There is no partial marking in MSQ questions.
