The IIT JAM 2027 Notification has been released by IIT Kharagpur, the Organizing Institute for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. The examination will be conducted for admission to various postgraduate programmes in IITs and other participating institutes for the academic year 2027-28.

As per the official IIT JAM 2027 Information Brochure, the JAM 2027 examination will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) on February 14, 2027, in two sessions. Candidates can apply for one or two test papers, provided the selected papers are not scheduled in the same session.

IIT JAM 2027 Application Form

The IIT JAM 2027 Application Form will be available online through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).

Candidates can register and submit their applications from September 12, 2026, to October 12, 2026. During registration, candidates have to provide their basic details, email address and active mobile number and create a password. After successful registration, an Enrollment ID and OTP will be sent to the registered email address and mobile number.

Candidates will have to upload the required documents, select their JAM test paper and examination cities, and complete the fee payment online.

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree or will appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2027 are eligible to appear for JAM 2027.

However, qualifying in JAM 2027 alone does not guarantee admission. Candidates must fulfil the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) prescribed for the particular programme and institute.

IIT JAM 2027 Test Papers

JAM 2027 will be conducted for seven test papers:

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Pattern

The JAM 2027 question paper will contain 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The paper will be divided into three compulsory sections: Section A, Section B and Section C.

Section A: MCQ

Section A contains multiple-choice questions with only one correct option. This section has negative marking. For a wrong answer, one-third of the marks will be deducted for a 1-mark question and two-thirds of the marks for a 2-mark question.

Section B: MSQ

Section B consists of Multiple Select Questions. One or more options may be correct. There is no negative marking or partial marking in this section.

Section C: NAT

Section C consists of Numerical Answer Type questions. Candidates have to enter the numerical answer using the virtual numeric keypad available on the computer screen. There is no negative marking in this section.

IIT JAM 2027 Admission

JAM scores will be used for admission to postgraduate programmes in the participating IITs and other institutes for the academic year 2027-28.

Through JAM scores, candidates can seek admission to programmes including:

• M.Sc. (Tech.)

• M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree

The official brochure states that there are around 3,000 postgraduate seats across 23 IITs for the 2027-28 academic year. JAM scores will also be used for admission to more than 2,000 postgraduate seats at various result-sharing institutes, subject to their respective eligibility requirements.

IIT JAM 2027 Admit Card

The IIT JAM 2027 Admit Card will be available for download through JOAPS from January 5, 2027, and will remain available until the examination day.

The admit card will contain details such as the candidate's name, registration number, photograph, signature, test paper details and allotted examination centre. Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with the original valid photo ID used during registration.

The admit card will not be sent by post or email.

IIT JAM 2027 Exam Centre

JAM 2027 will be conducted across around 114 cities in India. Candidates have to provide their first, second and third choices of examination cities while filling out the application form.

The second and third choices must be selected from the same zone as the first-choice city. If a selected city cannot be allotted due to operational reasons, an alternative city may be allotted.

IIT JAM 2027 Admission Process

Candidates who qualify in JAM 2027 and satisfy the Eligibility Requirements and Minimum Educational Qualifications can apply for admission to eligible programmes offered by the participating IITs.
