The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release the JoSAA 2025 seat matrix for colleges accepting JEE Main 2025 scores for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Applicants can check the complete seat matrix online at josaa.nic.in.
For NITs, the total number of seats is expected to be 24,450 in 2025, which is slightly more than the 24,229 seats available in 2024. These institutes follow a reservation policy, where 50% of the seats are reserved for students from the home state, and the remaining 50% are open to students from other states. Admissions to NITs are based on JEE Main rank through JoSAA counseling.
For IIITs, there are 8,546 seats available, the same as last year. IIITs are centrally funded technical institutes that offer BTech courses in fields like Computer Science, Electronics, and Information Technology. Admission is done through JoSAA counseling based on the JEE Main score.
For GFTIs, a total of 6,078 seats are available for BTech and BArch programs. These institutes are funded by the government and provide engineering education in various specializations. JoSAA will handle the admission process for all 32 GFTIs in India. Some of these institutes are ranked just below the NITs in national rankings.
JoSAA counseling is conducted online for seat allocation in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The process includes the following steps:
