What is the VITEEE 2025 Examination?

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) conducts its own entrance exam called VITEEE for admission to its B.Tech programs. VIT, founded in 1984 and recognized as a university in 2001, is well-known for its quality education and modern infrastructure. It has campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati (AP), and Bhopal. VITEEE is held annually and is a key requirement for B.Tech admissions at all these campuses. Since 2018, VITEEE scores are also considered for admission to their B.Des (Industrial Design) program. With a strong reputation and an eco-friendly environment, VIT attracts many students who wish to have a focused educational experience.

JEE Main vs VITEEE: Frequency of Examination

JEE Main is conducted twice a year , usually in January and April. This biannual schedule allows aspirants to improve their scores by attempting the exam more than once. It also provides flexibility for students who may want to focus on their 10+2 board exams first and then attempt the second session. Students can choose to take either one or both sessions based on their preparation level. VITEEE , on the other hand, is held only once a year . Students need to give their best shot in this single attempt to secure admission to VIT's B.Tech programs. This difference in JEE Main vs VITEEE exam frequency can be a key factor for students when deciding which exam suits their preparation strategy better.

JEE Main 2025 vs VITEEE 2025 Exam: Eligibility Requirements

According to JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2025 , aspirants must be Indian citizens, though foreign nationals, NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs can also apply. Students should have passed the 10+2 examination or an equivalent exam from a recognized Central or State Board, such as CBSE or ISC.
  • Those who have completed a two-year pre-university examination, the Senior Secondary School Examination by NIOS, with at least five subjects or equivalent exams from foreign countries recognized by AIU, are also eligible. Additionally, aspirants with a recognized three-year diploma or GCE A-levels can apply.
For VITEEE 2025, aspirants must be born on or after July 1, 2003, and should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. A minimum aggregate of 60% marks is required in the qualifying examination.
