Yes, the competition for JEE 2025 will increase. There are some specific reasons for this increase in competition including the increasing number of applications, increasing number of seats, and the harder level of the paper. JEE Main and JEE Advanced's final cut-off is decided based on the number of applications. If we check the past year's application history, the numbers are going higher and higher. For example, a total of 8.7 lakh candidates applied for JEE Main 2022 exam, which increased to 9.3 lakh in JEE 2023. JEE 2024 witnessed a total of 12.3 lakh candidates. According to the experts, the number of applications in JEE 2025 may increase up to 14 to 15 lakh. But, as usual, only the top 2.5 lakh candidates will be able to appear in JEE Advanced 2025 exam. NTA will surely increase JEE Main cutoff for the selection of JEE Advanced 2025 exam. The cut-off to appear in JEE Advanced 2023 exam was 23.89% (General) on average. However, with the increased number of applications, NTA finalized the general cutoff to 35%. The main reason for increasing competition in JEE 2025 is the increasing number of applications but the limited number of seats available. JEE 2025 is now attracting foreign students but the number of seats in IITs and NITs is comparatively low. As of now, a total number of 23954 NIT seats and 17835 IIT seats are available for admission through JEE 2025 exam. These numbers only differ by hundreds if the government adds new institutions, and that will never be enough for the increasing number of applications year by year. Students are demanding IITs and NITs in remote areas of India, which is another reason for the increasing competition for JEE 2025 exam .
