Communication System In JEE Main Syllabus

Communication System In JEE Main Syllabus : A communication exchange between two stations, a transmitter, and a receiver, is described by the communication system, which is a system model. Through a channel, signals or information are sent from one location to another. It shows how the signal uses it to go from a source to a destination. In a communication system, signals must first be processed before they can be sent. This processing should start with signal representation and continue via signal shaping, encoding, and modulation. The sent signal is delivered to the channel's transmission line after it has been prepared. The signal is subjected to many impairments such as distortion, attenuation, and noise as it passes this medium. Achieve JEE excellence with PW JEE Online Course . Communication System Meaning

Communication is the process of sending and receiving information.  The information exchange between two places is described by the communication system. The information transmitter, the information receiver, and the channel or medium of communication are the three main components of communication.

Types of Communication System

Based on Signal Specification: A communication system may be categorized as follows based on its technology or signal specification:
  • Analogue : Data travels via analog technology as electronic signals with variable amplitudes or frequencies. Analog technology is often used in telephone and broadcast transmission.
  • Digital : Data are created and processed in two states in digital technology: high (expressed as 1) and low (shown as 0). Data in the form of 1s and 0s is stored and transmitted using digital technology.

Based on Physical Infrastructure

Based on their physical infrastructure, communication system fall into two categories:
  • Line communication systems: Transfer data between points by using the power lines that are already in place.
  • Radio Systems: These systems use the radio wave infrastructure to transmit data from one location to another.

Important terms used in Communication System

Below is a discussion of the definitions of terms used in the communication system:

Signal terms in Communication System

A signal is information that has been electrically transformed and is ready for transmission. Signals may be either digital or analog. Continuous fluctuations in voltage or current are known as analog signals. Signals classified as digital are able to take discrete, sequential values. A binary system simply uses two levels of a signal and is widely employed in digital electronics. A voltage or current level of "0" denotes a low level and a level of "1" is a high level.

Transmitter terms in Communication System

A transmitter is a device that prepares an incoming message signal for channel broadcast and subsequent reception.

Receiver terms in Communication System

A receiver uses the channel output to extract the required message signals from the signals it has received.

Noise terms in Communication System

Unwanted signals that often interfere with the transmission and processing of message signals in a communication system are referred to as noise. The noise source can be detected outside the system or within.

Amplification terms in Communication System

Amplification is a method of using an electrical circuit known as an amplifier to increase the amplitude (and therefore the intensity) of a signal. In communication systems, amplification is required to make up for the signal's attenuation. A DC power supply provides the energy required for increased signal intensity. Anywhere the signal intensity drops below the necessary level between the source and the destination, amplification is applied.

Transducer terms in Communication System

Transducer: A transducer is any device that changes one kind of energy into another. It is common to encounter devices in electronic communication systems that have electrical inputs or outputs. A device that transforms a physical variable (such as pressure, displacement, force, temperature, etc.) into equivalent variations in the electrical signal at its output is known as an electrical transducer.

Range terms in Communication System

Range refers to the maximum distance between a source and destination where a signal may be received with sufficient strength.

Bandwidth terms in Communication System :

The term "bandwidth" describes the range of frequencies that a piece of equipment may operate across or the area of the spectrum that a signal occupies.

Modulation terms in Communication System :

The original low-frequency message/information cannot be transmitted over long distances for many reasons. As a result, at the transmitter, a high-frequency wave that serves as the information carrier is overlaid with data from the low-frequency message signal. We call this process modulation. There are three different forms of modulation: AM, FM, and PM.

Demodulation terms in Communication System :

At the receiver, the process of extracting information from the carrier wave is known as demodulation. This is modulation carried out in reverse.

Repeater terms in Communication System :

A repeater is a device which comprises a transmitter and a receiver. A repeater receives a signal from a transmitter, amplifies it, and then retransmits it—sometimes at a different carrier frequency—to the receiver. The purpose of repeaters is to increase a communication system's range.
