JIPMAT Eligibility Criteria

With the 2026 cycle concluded, candidates looking toward the 2027 intake must align with the updated National Testing Agency (NTA) guidelines. Eligibility is verified at multiple stages, so understanding the specific cut-offs for age and academic passing years is vital for a successful application.

JIPMAT 2027 Eligibility Overview

To be eligible for the JIPMAT 2027 exam, you must meet criteria across three main pillars: your academic passing year, your minimum percentage in board exams, and your category-based age limit.

JIPMAT Eligibility Criteria 2026

The Joint Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (JIPMAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to 5-year IPM courses at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. For candidates to be eligible for the JIPMAT 2026 Exam, candidates must meet certain Eligibility Criteria related to age, educational qualification, seat availability, etc. Candidates can check the table below to know all details about the JIPMAT Eligibility Criteria 2026:

JIPMAT Eligibility Criteria 2027
Category Academic Requirement (Class 12th) Minimum Marks (Aggregate)
General / NC-OBC / EWS Passed in 2025, 2026, or appearing in 2027 60% in Class 10 and Class 12
SC / ST / PwD (DAP) Passed in 2025, 2026, or appearing in 2027 55% in Class 10 and Class 12

Candidates must ensure that the percentage obtained in Class 10th and 12th is calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects mentioned in their mark sheets. If grades or CGPA are given, then the candidates must ensure that they get their marks converted into percentages according to their certified procedure by the respective boards.

Academic Qualification Details

You must have completed Class 10th (SSC) and Class 12th (HSC) or an equivalent examination. Students currently in Class 12th who will appear for their final board exams in 2027 are eligible to apply on a provisional basis. You will be required to submit your final marksheet during the document verification stage of the admission process.

JIPMAT Age Limit 2027

The age limit is a critical filter for the JIPMAT exam. The cut-off date is typically set to August 1st of the exam year.

  • General and NC-OBC Candidates: You must be born on or after August 1, 2007.

  • SC, ST, and PwD Candidates: You must be born on or after August 1, 2002.

Minimum Marks and Percentage Calculation Rules

NTA and the participating IIMs are strict about how marks are calculated. Do not assume your board's "best of five" rule applies here.

  1. Aggregate Calculation: Your percentage must be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects appearing on your Class 10th and 12th marksheets.

  2. CGPA to Percentage: If your board (like CBSE) uses CGPA or grades, you must use the official conversion formula certified by that board to arrive at your percentage.

  3. No Rounding Off: If the requirement is 60%, a score of 59.99% is typically not accepted. Ensure you meet the exact threshold for your category.

Eligibility for Gap Year and International Students

The JIPMAT 2027 exam accommodates students with gap years and those from varied educational backgrounds.

  • Gap Year Policy: You are eligible for the 2027 exam if you completed your Class 12th in 2025 or 2026. If you passed Class 12th in 2024 or earlier, you likely exceed the "passing year" window.

  • International Boards: Candidates from international schools (IB, IGCSE, etc.) are eligible. However, you must ensure your board is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

  • SAT for International Applicants: Non-resident applicants or those in foreign boards may need a valid SAT score (typically 1300/1600) taken between November 1, 2025, and June 30, 2027.

IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya Requirements

While both institutes use JIPMAT scores, their final selection criteria differ slightly in weightage. However, the entry-level eligibility criteria (age, marks, and passing year) remain identical as they are governed by the NTA JIPMAT framework.

JIPMAT Eligibility 2027: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for JIPMAT 2027 if I passed Class 12 in 2025?

Yes. Students who passed their Class 12th exams in 2025 or 2026 are eligible to appear for the JIPMAT 2027 exam, provided they also meet the age limit criteria.

What is the age limit for General category students in JIPMAT 2027?

General category candidates should be born on or after August 1, 2007. This means you should not be older than 20 years on the cut-off date.

Is there any relaxation in marks for OBC candidates?

No. NC-OBC and EWS candidates must meet the same 60% aggregate requirement in Class 10th and 12th as General category students. Relaxation to 55% is only applicable to SC, ST, and PwD categories.

I am a science student. Am I eligible for JIPMAT 2027?

Yes. JIPMAT is open to students from all streams, including Science, Commerce, and Humanities, as long as the minimum percentage and age criteria are met.

What happens if I fail to produce my 12th marksheet during admission?

If you applied as an "appearing" candidate and cannot produce a passing marksheet meeting the 60% (or 55%) criteria during document verification, your provisional admission will be cancelled.
